GDC director: PS3 owners will be "very happy" next week

Color me skeptical... Sony has made way too many dumb comments and announcements. It's possible this could be different, but I'm going to refrain from getting too excited right now... and get ready to increment my counter at my blog...

For those that remember the bet that that Sony executive made (forgot his name) and have proof that they found a ps3 sitting on a shelf for longer than 5 minutes a phone number and email address will be made available whereby you can claim your $1200. Lol

It will probably be about some new downloadable content like hd movies or an itunes type service or something like that.

I fail to comprehend why people are SO excited over Killzone 2 when the original was garbage and the reviews were mediocre???

"Halo killer?" That was a pretty hilarious statement. That game was almost as bad as Daikitana!

Go check out the reviews for yourselves. Or better yet, just play the first one, then you'll realize that the great "Killzone 2" has a WHOLE LOT of work to be done if it was ever to compete with Halo or any other fps.

I'm along with some of you fellow posters. It'll probably be a PSN subscription. Then,you'll be told how there's free and "premium" and that the users have a choice now.....even that exact same thing existed with Live (Gold and silver) and was badmouthed by Sony anyway.

How to make existing ps3 owners very happy? Announce software emulation for BC for America AND Japan.

Get ready for something TOTALLY underwhelming but spun to a tornado inducing velocity. Or it is KZ2 but it lokks NOTHING like the target renders and it barely pushes 30fps @720P. The SDF and the rest square off in a 150+ post flame war, Phil Harrison makes an ass of himself yet again, and Sony walks hand in hand with it's Blu-Ray toting Frankenstein one step closer to the abyss.

I kind of hope that it really is good news because if it's not, well, lets just say that Sony won't be setting any sales records in Europe.

I'd say this is one of the more probable guesses, to me.
Remember that this is a DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE, folks. This is the real techy side of things that most of us couldn't hope to understand without shelling out for a new degree.
It's not usually the place to announce new games or price drops or things of that nature. It's possible, just unlikely.

My guess is that if there'll be ANY big news out of the GDC, it'll be from Nintendo finally showing off it's online service...or Microsoft unveiling a new 360 model.
I honestly can't imagine what Sony could announce that would be of more interest to the general public at a developer's conference.
...and even if it is something 'hype worthy', it's a damn good bet that it'll end up being a HUGE let down in the end...a la what the Eye Toy 2 will be if it ever comes out.

How the HELL did Joystiq post this as negative?? Get your head out your ass fanboy bitch. You listen and agree with any and everything Harrison says?? Learn to THINK for yourself among the things that are being told about Sony. If you were smart you'd hold out for a PS3..but it seems you aren't. I guess it must suck to pretend you're happy that you flushed your $500-600 down the toilet. =/

They better do something......all of my PS only friends who were waiting on PS3 have been caving like a house made of straw and purchasing the 360 in droves......

I think the real news here is that this half assed, what some people actually like to call "gaming news site", made a post about the PS3 without slamming it.

Why doesn't Sony go as low as Microsoft and get their own site where they just hate on the 360 all the time? Wait, because Sony isn't the fucking scum of the earth like Microsoft is.

The new firmware update... ... ... ... ...HAS REGION LOCK.
