While not a true sequel to the Xbox Live Arcade launch title, Namco Bandai have announced Space Station Tycoon for the Nintendo Wii; a follow-up to NinjaBee's Outpost Kaloki X. This will be the first title that has gone from a console specific, download initiative and turned into a full-fledged retail product. In an interview with IGN, players from both Namco Bandai and Wahoo Studios (the house of NinjaBee) talk at length in bringing their intergalactic management sim to the Wii. Aside from a bevy of tweaks and improvements to the core of the game, Space Station Tycoon will feature customizable space stations, co-operative play and will be entirely playable with only the Wii remote.
The developers also make it clear that Space Station Tycoon does not utilize any content from Outpost Kaloki. Still, it does look mighty familiar. Space Station Tycoon is currently scheduled for a Summer 2007 release.

Although, I think the name for this game is far too generic.

The very generic sounding name was a topic of discussion recently on the NinjaBee forums. Steve Taylor (president of Wahoo/NinjaBee) was talking about how they wanted a unique name for Kaloki to avoid the very descriptive but uninteresting "Space Station Sim"...guess Namco Bandai prefers things to be more straightforward.

Quake, Subspace, Ultima Online, and countless other PC games from that era disagree with you.

That game had BETTER come to VC, hear me Nintendo?

The Wii needs more games like this that are fully developed with the system and controls in mind.

Its using USB 2.0 and Wireless B/G, the same as all the other consoles (well, the LAN for other consoles goes through Ethernet, but USB 2.0 supports it well enough)
There's nothing stopping Wii from having a network as good or better than LIVE, just Nintendo's pig-headedness

This game is fun, but thats only a sidebar that means some RTS are soon to follow, ONLY using the Wiimote.
Happy Day!
I'm not even a big RTS fan, it's just the total missed opportunity on the DS so far. Maybe publishers are finally getting their heads out of their ass and saying, "Wow, this thing points, how perfect is that for my RTS game."

This is not a PC game from that era.
