First off, you can't play Infernal Machine with ScummVM, as it is a SCUMM VIRTUAL MACHINE. It plays games made with the SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) engine, which doesn't run Infernal Machine. Though you could play Last Crusade and Fate of Atlantis on it...

And that list missed out my favourite Unsung Indy game, Last Crusade for the NES. Now I know there were two for the NES, but the one I'm talking about is the one that had you choose from a menu which action you wanted to choose next, and had everything from sidescrolling levels, puzzles and even a motorbike chase level. Short, but I sill put it in my NES from time to time (Yes, I own the actual cart) and play it through.

Fate of Atlantis is often overlooked in favor of Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle. It's really on the same level of quality as its Lucas siblings and is one of the best graphic adventures ever made.

Oricalcum ftw

SNES Indy game was fun. If you liked the SNES Star Wars series, this is really about the same thing, except they made with the unusual decision to squeeze all 3 movies of the trilogy onto one cart.
Overall:
whip = Lightsaber
pistol = blaster
grenade = thermal detonator
no force powers, lightsaber blocking, nor double jumping, but there was whip swinging which in itself is fun stuff.

And this game is truly "politically correct". All the shasticas in the movie are replaced with X's or plus signs for the SNES game.

.

Arcade Temple Of Doom certainly was a great quarter muncher. Back then in the late 80s, it was this and Gauntlet were the few arcade games that did have audio talking.

.

I don't know why Indy and the Fate of Atlantis was only in the intro and not the top 10. It just doesn't seem like that game deserved enough recognition. Puzzle solving, dialogue outwitting, 3 different modes of play, and IQ points for score. A classic indeed

I'm so glad they're putting the new Indy games on the true next gen consoles. The PS3/360 will be able to show off the Indiana Jones atmosphere better with the stronger hardware.

yeah, it was a typo. I meant to say swastikas, or "Shwastikas" as i had originally thought it was spelt.

Lets get serious. The Wii couldn't render Indy's hat or whip in realtime without exploding.

yeah, explosing with AWESOMENESS maybe. It takes more than 22 watts to explode a console anyway.

At least you could actually use the whip on wii, instead of pressing a lamo button!

(I think we need another topic for the planned flamewar, as I pretty much agree that wii couldn't handle all the crazy stuff lucas has planned. I'm faking the stupid fanboy the best I can though!)

Yea, but the whip would look like a sword since the Wii cannot produce a softbody mesh.

Or has a girl. A hot gamer girl that plays WoW for fun, instead of looking at shoes, or whatever non-gamer girls do for fun.

What do non-gamer girls do for fun Jack, since you are one? Wait, I guess that means you own a wii too.

Joystiq, shut down this comment section, now

This lost relevance after about #10 or so

(although, to my knowledge, the only time it has ever been shut down was back when Vladimir Cole made the disastrous "Round Eye" comment about the Blue Dragon bundle for the 360 in Japan)

The Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom arcade game was ridiculously hard, and only munched quarters because you couldn't get very far on a single quarter. Instead, you had to insert another quarter to continue. The further you progressed, the harder it became.

I remembered it being a curiosity when it was first introduced, and well played initially, but interest wained quickly, with only the diehards continuing to play. By no means was it a major hit like Street Fighter II or Double Dragon where it was being played for months and you had to wait to play.

The Empire Strikes Back video game suffered the same fate.

I'll agree with all those games EXCEPT the Atari VCS game and the Arcade game. Those were MEGA popular back in the day, especially the arcade game, which consumed many a quarter.

Too bad Lucasarts'll never make it.
They're just going to keep churning out shitty Star Wars games 'cause it's what sells, whi;e ignoring their better franchises like Monkey Island and Indiana Jones. I mean come on, it took a third party to step in and offer to develop it for there to be a Sam & Max sequel. The Lucasarts execs seem to be allergic to quality.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is the greatest Indy adventure IMO. The fact you could pick three different play styles that actually changed how the game played out was phenomenal.

Also props @2 who pointed out that Atlantis often gets overlooked in favor of the other Lucas Arts adventure games. Although I do remember buying the Lucas Arts Archive Vol. 1 that contained all of those games. Man that pack was awesome.

Its not the size, but how you use it that counts. X360 might be bigger, but my girl thinks my Wii is more fun.

Besides, she likes the motion controls. giggity giggity giggity!
