Who cares how he did it? It's simply amazing and a great song to boot to choose to pair with the video. But I'll ask the same question others already have. Why?

He has to be using a tablet. I know very few people who can have that amount of control using a mouse.

People just don't realize how good a tool MS Paint is with a little experience. If Microsoft added brushes, custom copy and past frames, animation options, and full 360 degree rotation, there would be no need for other programs.

Looks like Viral marketing to me. Even if there is an artist to attribute this to, seems like he must have been paid by Sony. Much better than the previous campaign, though.

Man, I consider myself a pro at MSPaint (too cheap to buy real art programs), but that blows my crap out of the water.

I wish it had been a DS =P

Yeah this is a real huge viral campaign ;)
To those who said "he's using a Wacom tablet" so what? it doesn't discredit the fact that this is pretty skillfully done. The tablet doesn't magically give you better skills, and in a program like MS Paint, a mouse and the tablet are pretty much equal.

This guy is great! Now if he can draw some original games, better battery life, better hardware, faster load times, and a fanbase that doesn't just sit there and ooh and ahhh and drool like zombies at the pretty colors and flashing lights or simply a machine that they thinks looks sexy( but aint helping them at all with the opposiste sex)maybe it will be worth buying.

thats photoshop.
And rather than ADD anything to MS Paint, They'd just buy it from Adobe.

This is the single, greatest, artistic accomplishment I ever being done. That is ALL, raw talent. No tricks, no special photoshop stuff, just pure talent.

you know if that were a publicity it would actually be good. as in, better than most of what Sony has done recently (but that Ratchet ad where the guy is reduced in size and grabbed by an owl just kills me)

It's mighty impressive that he can do that entirely in paint. But I have to ask WHY?? It's like creating and publishing a magazine in Wordpad or something. It's great that it can be done, but imagine how much quicker (and better) he'd be if he used a proper app. I am a graphic designer / computer artist myself, and funnily enough created a PSP graphic to some acclaim. It's mega-wide because it is for displaying screenshots on forums, and was made to the dimensions specified by a particular forum. The uber-wide characteristic has kind of become a running joke.

Check out my efforts here: http://www.ozzdesign.com/files/page2_blog_entry4_1.png. Forgive any technical errors, I don't have a PSP to study!

That was done in photoshop, probably in about a tenth of the time that guy took. He's got some serious talent, but he's wasting it treading water in MS paint like it's some kind of party trick.

Pff... oekaki is the only proper way to do pixel art these days.

Almost all my pixel stuff is done with the mouse, too. On the Amiga, we didn't have fancy tablets to do dithering -- or even masks.
