Lost Planet multiplayer patched
Capcom! How could you do this to us? We just... we just weren't ready... You said March 9 -- but it's March 2. That's so not right. Updates should never be on time, let alone a week early! C'mon, you gotta make us bitch and beg a little, you know? Now see what you've done? You've gone and set the bar too high; you've carelessly exceeded our expectations. What are we supposed to do -- just place Lost Planet in the disc tray and update away? You make us sick, Capcom. Sweaty. Rotten. Sick.
Complete patch details follow...
Updates:
- In the pre-game lobby, a country flag icon will be shown next to the Gamertag of each player. This will be especially helpful for determining location of the match host.
- In the pre-game lobby, an icon will be added next to each player's Gamertag, indicating connection strength, speed and rating.
- In Team Elimination, Post Grab and Fugitive modes, an indicator will be added next to the Gamertag of the person who is speaking.
- At the post-match Results screen, an indicator will be added next to the Gamertag of the person who is speaking.
- At the post-match Results screen, Gamertags of the players who have left the session will be darkened.
Additionally, the update will prevent players from playing together when network conditions are too bad and likely to cause extreme lag. This will prevent the following kinds of issues from occurring:
- Multiple fugitives in Fugitive matches when there should be only one
- Invisible players during matches
- Player info shown on Results screen for players who did not play in the match
- Sometimes in Fugitive mode there would be multiple Fugitives instead of just one - Fixed
- Occasionally, if an error occurred on the lobby screen, another lobby screen would be displayed on top of it - Fixed
- Sometimes when there was a long delay/lag, the game would hang at the transition screen going from the lobby to the game and then reboot - Fixed
- Sometimes when there was a long delay/lag, depending on the console, certain players in the match would become invisible for the duration of the match - Fixed
- Sometimes post-match Results screens would show players who did not participate in the match - Fixed
- Starting a taunt animation during a reload shortened the reload time as an exploit - Fixed

I know this isn't about Lost Planet, but on the subject of early releases I got an email from Telltale saying that Sam and Max: Abe Lincoln Must Die was available for download a week early too! What's going on? Now the gaps between episodes is even longer!

what the hell is that white patch on his face?

I don't like that games feel rushed that they have such bugs. But Capcom has fixed a lot of issues earlier than they said so I'll forgive them.

Best Developer Ever.

The update also changed the scoring for Fugitive mode because people were using it to rack up points.

bravo capcom, i got a faulty code for the collector's map, but even though it took a few weeks, they pulled through for me and fixed it.

Lost Planet can stay lost; what a letdown.

Concurred Jasmin.. I find the Multiplayer extremely boring.
Voryn @ Mar 2nd 2007 7:53PM
I love the multiplayer. And I like this patch a lot. Easier to join fellow Canadians or some Brits. And I've seen it help a lot already with Japanese and German people getting together and being able to actually talk their language.

Great news--and I continue to be baffled by the haters. Too much butt-love w/ GoW, imo.
