I'm a Tony Hawk fan, but I would much rather play a more realistic skating game. The TH series has gotten really complacent.

It looks good, But I couldnt help notice, theres no other characters that appear on the screen... Doesnt seem right to see a skate park empty and your the only one skating around does it?

And I would prefer a real time skating game as well, Tony Hawks trick system has gotten way unrealistic with all the created trick and all that jazz.

physics look un polished, and as much as a 'realistic' skating sounds like it would be fun, having trouble doing like a 360 or a hardflip at 1 time seems like it would get boring.

I agree with morphy. This game looks way more realistic. Instead of having insane completely ridiculous trick combinations like they built up in TH, its more like one trick at a time and the challenge of doing the best possible trick you can, not stringing together a bunch of rather simple tricks for major combo points.

and i don't know if anyone ever caught this, but you could have seen game footage for this game months ago. They showed clips of it on Rob and Big (one of the best shows ever!). and even then in its early stages i was impressed with it, as was Rob Dyrdek.

Impossible to tell from watching a video. It's all about the tactile play sensation. I know plenty of people hate the TH combo mechanism, but at its best, one trick flows into another seamlessly. I don't care about the points, or shooting fifty feet in the air on a vert ramp, but it has to flow well, or I won't be playing it. If switching from one trick to the next is difficult and cumbersome, it's dead in the water.

I'll have to try it to see how it plays before I decide if it is better than TH.

I would get bored pretty fast with a game where a kickflip to a rail grind would be considred a challenge.
That's why i love the Tony Hawk games, they are pretty unrealistic, but fun to play.
Backside 540 with a nosegrab over a helicopter to an acid drop? No Problem!
However, if Skate were to have a good storyline, and have a really good skating feel to it, the game might offer to be a great Alternative to Tony Hawk Series.

As long as they don't have ridiculous goals like "grab this bulldog's leash and hold on for 5 minutes while he pulls you around town" I'm all about a new skating game.

Seriously, the Tony Hawk games to skating are almost like MTV is to music at this point.

I liked the over-the-top Tony Hawk stuff, it really left you walking around the real world wondering how to grind and kickflip your way around the city.

This ones looks very nice though, I hope the trick system isn't too simplistic.

I haven't played TH in years (they seemed to get pretty stagnant), but this game looks like it could be pretty fun. This video at least piqued my interest.

The way it looks to me is as follows...

Tony = Burnout

Skate = Gran Turismo

I think each will appeal to their specific audience with some crossover.

Lighting was pretty weak... otherwise everything looked pretty clean. I'd definitely be interested in getting this if I hear some good reviews.

You know a franchise is getting lazy when EA is the one upsetting the balance.

I would love to say that this game has potential, but seeing who makes it, i'm just gonna pass. EA is a joke nowadays

who cares who makes it, this game is so much more rad than any tony hawk game. you kids are such nerds and losers, who cares about other skaters skating around in it, this game has waaaay better stuff in it, skateboardings about the style and neversoft definitely ruined that one
