I think there was an event where Phil Harrison was speaking about the upcoming PlayStation 3 and an audience member asked him "Will the PlayStation 3 be able to upscale DVD's?" to which he promptly replied "Yes, out of the box." Oops. Well, we're going to go ahead and report on this as if it were a real scoop -- because honestly, we're not sure whether to make heads or tails of it -- or which side of the grass really is greener.Phil Harrison sat down with Croal and spouted out something of interest. The real subject was how Sony plans to change how they receive information -- namely, they'll listen to consumers instead of their minds/wallets. But Phil said this in part of his blurb: "So we could say, "You know, we're not sure when it's coming, but we're going to have DVD upscaling on Playstation 3." There you go. There's a scoop for you." So... was he joking? Was that hypothetical? Why would he make that claim hypothetical when it's something they initially planned to be out of the box? We think they are working on it and it'll come out in the summer hand-in-hand with the upscaling of PS2 and PSOne games.
