I think the Top Action Games for the PSP are:
- Daxter
- Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
- Socom: Fireteam Bravo
- Ace Combat X (I don't know if this is considered Action)
- All Metal Gear Solid PSP games
- All GTA PSP Games
- Chili Con Carnage
- Pursuit Force

The best upcoming action games are (IMO):
- Dead Head Fred
- God of War Portable
- Silent Hill
- Pursuit Force 2

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Great game, co-op is better when you don't have to share a screen, and it loses hardly anything from the console versions.

--Wait, do you really consider Ratchet & Clank and Daxter action? I consider them adventure games.

While I loved GTA: LCS, I must agree that VCS is better.

As far as the Syphon Filter vs. MGS: Portable Ops question goes, I agree with the_baloon_man in saying that Portable Ops takes it. The psuedo-RTS-styled gameplay coupled with an excellently developed and involving storyline make this game one of the more impressive 3PS/strat games I've ever played, and definately one of the best in this series.

I just like that we have enough good stuff to debate about what goes where and what other good stuff is missing on the top 5 ... :)

But I don't think that score tells the whole story - it is a flawed metric. Games like Infected get mediocre scores but are great fun, whereas owning both GTA games is 1 too many IMO. Each is good but both ... not so much. Same with SOCOM - #2 coming out renders #1 useless forever.

Ratchet & Clank is an action game. Adventure games are like Myst, Hotel Dusk DS, Syberia PC, Longest Journey PC, Trace Memory DS, for examples.

Oh, man!

Hands down: Syphon Filter - one of the soundest shooters on the system. Next would have to be Killzone for me.

What about Killzone: Liberation?

That is a pretty solid action game.

Also, between Portable Ops and Syphon Filter, I thought Syphon Filter was better. They are both excellent, and I probably played Portable Ops longer, but I enjoyed Syphon Filter more. The graphics were better, the weapons were more fun, and the challenges were harder.

I really wonder what Medal of Honor would fall under. It is a FPS but I don't really think a category for FPS' on the PSP would even be useful to anyone.

I can't decide whether I liked Daxter or Ratchet & Clank better. It is a close call there. With GTA I liked the first better. It was more impressive compared to the other games that were out at the time. In VCS I can often drive around and end up with environments with no textures and invisible walls.

Thats actually a top 6 list. Since first place is a tie Syphon Filter should be number 3...

I'm sorry, but for this not-former-mgs-player, MGS:PO was really bad, luckily, I only borrowed it.
