Mizuguchi to reveal new XBLA game
CVG reports that Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Q Entertainment are set to unveil a new title for Xbox Live Arcade at this week's Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco. Of course, the word "new" is relative when it comes to the Xbox 360's download service, leaving the door open for an enhanced version of Q's Every Extend Extra, released in November on PSP. Whatever it ends up being (the reliable internet says: Rez!), you can likely expect catchy J-pop tunes, hypnotic lights, plummeting blocks and, with any luck, ludicrous amounts of unintentional gyration.

Crossing my fingers for Rez!
Every Extend Extra just wasn't for me.
Diskoboy @ Mar 5th 2007 5:13PM
Oh, dear god yes - please let it be Rez!!!
I'm starting to drool just thinking about Rez in Hi-def.

Here's an idea: why don't you just report the actual news and leave the snide little remarks for the comment section?
Jeff @ Mar 5th 2007 5:43PM
The tunes in Rez are anything but Jpop. They're pretty much the opposite of Jpop, what with being neither Japanese *nor* pop.
Jeremy @ Mar 5th 2007 5:47PM
As I can recall - the file sizes for Rez on both the dreamcast and ps2 ranged from 60-75 mb for the WHOLE game. Judging from the recent announcement of upping the max limit from 50 to 150mb on XBLA, it would make sense that Rez would be announced now.
Yeti @ Mar 5th 2007 5:50PM
If Rez comes out on XBLA I may soil my pants in excitement...damn it too late!
Daniel @ Mar 5th 2007 5:49PM
Here's hoping it'll support the USB trance vibrator.
:)

I agree with Jeff. Neither Rez, nor EEE had j-pop tunes...and thank God. It's really more trance. Pop is what ruins titles like these, like Lumines 2. Gwen Stefani and Black Eyed Peas? No thanks.
Blue_Falcon @ Mar 5th 2007 6:14PM
Y'know, when playing Lumines Live! some time ago, I was wondering how bringing a game like Meteos could work for something lacking a stylus input like the DS has (sans the cell phone version released some time ago, but I'd rather not count that)
And then it hit me - couldn't the Vision cam do wonders for something like that? (although I assume the blocks would need to be made much larger obviously to be formatted for a larger screen) Does anyone else think something like this could work?
Sidenote: J-Pop? Really? There are times when listening to LL! and wondering if what I'm listening to counts as MUSIC, let alone J-Pop of any form. (that first song in Vs. CPU mode is a perfect example)
Dan @ Mar 5th 2007 6:49PM
Didn't the music in rez react to your shots in the game... and it didn't have a licensed soundtrack, so how could it be J-pop, is it because it was techno, because it was made by japanese people? Is it me, or does it seem like joystiq feels a need to have a negative opinion of everything. If there was news that from now on, consoles would be free, would joystiq beat down on it?

Yes. If only there's because a cynic in all of us. :p
Kazam @ Mar 5th 2007 7:08PM
Amagad! Please please please give me Rez to XBLA. Imagine being able to buy a wireless trance vibrator. Seriously. My girlfriend has gotten of so many times by that trance vibrator, and imagine what you could do with a WIRELESS one. If you like Rez, i can really recomend the USB trance vibrator. Then both you and your girlfriend can enjoy the game. This must be what that thing was made for?
somaXD @ Mar 5th 2007 7:59PM
Please let it be rez, please let it be rez.
(although i do own the ps2 version... pump this up to 720p and i will start stocking up on sid and E.)
Also opens up for a possible rez release on PSN?
id buy it for both systems. (sixaxis aiming would kinda be cool, although lack of ffb would suck for the music beat immersion that rez is)

***3. Here's an idea: why don't you just report the actual news and leave the snide little remarks for the comment section?***
Here's an idea. Let's try to learn the definition of 'Blog' shall we?
***A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.
Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.***
This a blog, not an unbiased clinically detached study on gaming. These are people passionate about games and willing to utter an opinion about the news in addition to reporting it as it happens. Get the stick out and learn to tell the difference. We'll all be a lot happier once that happens
John H. @ Mar 5th 2007 9:09PM
Hmm. How many different parts of it will have to be bought THIS time?
Todd Rabanus @ Mar 5th 2007 9:51PM
"Of course, the word "new" is relative when it comes to the Xbox 360's download service"
sort like the entire virtual console on the wii or the playstation network with all the "new" games available from those sources?
Doc @ Mar 5th 2007 10:50PM
wow if true and it's rez ....in HD, holy fucking shit i was just talking about this game a week ago and on XBLA would be great!! and if they had some NEW content to boot would fucking rock!!
Diskoboy @ Mar 6th 2007 12:08AM
And if it's Every Extend Extra - I can live with that. It's a pretty addictive little game.
But please let it be Rez (again). :)
BustahWolf @ Mar 6th 2007 8:53AM
J-POP!? HAHAHA, sounds like someone needs to consult the guide:

Look for J-Tek in the techno section.

Hmm.. I think when I installed Rez on the PS2 HDD it was 256. The image I downloaded for DC was around the same, I think.
And I own both, pirate slayers, it's just much easier to play ripped DC games than put in a bootdisc and then put in your legit PAL Copy.
