jp,

You are either a troll or a clueless fanboy, likely both. For one, the ratio of shooters to non-shooters on the PS3 is almost the same as for the 360. I did the math and about 20% of games rated over 80 on metacritic for each system are shooters, 3rd and 1st person. The 360 has 4 times as many shooters, but also has 4 times as many non-shooters (metacritic 80 and up).

Secondly,
Look at the following list of all games published by Microsoft Game Studios for the 360. Then try to tell people all they do is shooters.

Xbox 360
Alan Wake (TBA) — Remedy Entertainment
Banjo-Kazooie 3 (2007) — Rare
Blue Dragon (2006) — Mistwalker
Crackdown (2007) — Real Time Worlds
Every Party (2005) — Game Republic
Fable 2 (2007) — Lionhead Studios
Forza Motorsport 2 (2007) — Turn 10
Fuzion Frenzy 2 (2007) — Hudson Soft
Gears of War (2006) — Epic Games
Halo 3 (2007) — Bungie Studios
Halo Wars (2007) — Ensemble
Infinite Undiscovery (2007) — Tri-Ace
Kameo: Elements of Power (2005) — Rare
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom (2007) — Phantagram
Lost Odyssey (2007) — Mistwalker
Marvel Universe Online (2008) — Marvel Interactive
Mass Effect (2007) — Bioware
Ninety-Nine Nights (2006) — Phantagram
Perfect Dark Zero (2005) — Rare
Project Gotham Racing 3 (2005) — Bizarre Creations
Project Gotham Racing 4 (2007/8) — Bizarre Creations
ShadowRun (2007) — FASA Studio
Too Human (2007) — Silicon Knights
Tenchu Z (2007) — From Software
Viva Piñata (2006) — Rare

You, my friend, have been owned. Next!

Yeah the PS3 doesn't have more variety of games-perhaps you're thinking of the PS2. As Jake pointed out the 360 has a really varied catalog, whereas the PS3 barely has a library.

@ Cephas,

According to Heroes, many of the characters found out about their powers six months prior to October. Humans in real life never even had powers back then!

oh wait.. we never did. ..it's a show.

AND, Micah could have possibly created a freakin PS3 and Heavenly Sword himself. haha

The 360's library, while varied and large, will simply always be wanting of quality JP titles, one of the 2 weaknesses of the system

a lack of Metal Gear won't hurt 360 (its never sold a million), but a lack of FF and Dragon Quest will

And you can't give Microsoft Game Studios credit for much; except for Forza, they usually just publish games made by studios under their umbrella (Rare, Bungie, Realtime Worlds)

But on topic: this is a WIERD product placement, a game that doesn't even have a definite release date yet? First off, its torture for those eagerly awaiting Heavenly Sword (like for others if they featured ppl playing Halo 3 or Brawl) It would make MUCH more sense to show them playing GoW2 in 720p; upscaled

While the 360 does have other games to play, all the top games on it are all shooters pretty much. That's what it is known for. You really don't buy a 360 for platformers or puzzlers, you buy it to shoot things and then blow them up/set them on fire.

Mr Kahn - Metal Gear is a million+ seller and is a strong reason to pick up a PS3.

On the video - I figure they got around the $600 cost by having Micah just build a PS3 from old toasters.

@16. dude NOONE buys a next gen game system for platformers and puzzlers. the N64 or DS is perfectly suited for those. if thats what EVERYONE wanted, was puzzlers then why the fuck does the ps3 brag about advanced processing power and cost $600.

neither of you ignorant fanboys has a case in this.

I think those are my two least favorite characters on the show.

You guys are reading way way too far into this though. It's just a product placement. (Deep breath now) And doesn't have anything to do with the characters or the shows timeline.

Also... 360 kills playstation 3.
How?

Don't any of you watch the show? Future Hiro gave it to the kid, he's a Time Traveler! DUH! If he can bring a comic with him, he can bring a PS3, at $200 in the year 2011 when Heavenly Sword is a greatest hit for $19.99. I mean Hiro is a geeky comic book gamer for God's sake. After he saves the world in the season finale, I'm sure he's going to take a break and use his time-travel powers for pwnage!

That footage does look amazing, but was any of it realtime gameplay? I honestly couldn't tell. It looked like a scripted event at best and full CGI at worst. Anybody know for certain or have links to videos of actual gameplay?

But let me say this right now, if that *is* gameplay...chalk up another reason to own the PS3.

I highly doubt it was "live" gameplay but possibly an in-game scripted event. They usually don't use footage of live gameplay in productions like Heroes. It's pretty obvious when you say, see someone jamming buttons on a dualshock and the screen shows GTA with the dude walking around and acting seamlessly.

Meh, thats probably why the only place 360 sells awesomly is in America, Americans like anything that has a "shoot first, think later" aspect, its no wonder movies such as Commando and Mission Impossible, Terminator and such with one man to save the world are exactly the same thing you see in the shooters, lack of intellect, just shoot the living hell out of whats on screen, just like the guns you can pick up in your local Walmart and pop the next bloke to cross your path :P The holloywood cliche, man with big guns kills all alien race, all zombies, all iraqis, lmao, all russians, the only real difference between these games being the graphical enhancement and the style of gameplay.

But hey, a console and a game for all, thats how it goes ;)

PS: Dudes, when you get something outside of another brainless 1 man army type shooter or rpg even remotly worth looking at, please inform me, and if its on the shelves here in London, I may be an outcast and buy it.

There have also been scenes of Tracey Morgan's character in 30 Rock playing Halo 2 (on a 360) in his dressing room. I know that it has happened on at least two occasions.

In one of them, even though he is pressing buttons and shifting control sticks as though he is playing, no lights on the 360 controller are on, clearly showing that NBC just used the wireless controller as a prop and spliced in Halo 2 footage.

Of course it is pre-rendered. Television programs are highly scripted and strongly directed. They'd rather not have to re-shoot the scene because the character got killed in Halo 2 or a button press was missed in Heavenly Sword.

Re-shooting a scene isn't cheap and producers and directors strive to minimize the costs.

Fanboy, lmao, you have no idea what consoles I even own or want, how can I be a fanboy. My statement was right then, its funny how many ppl you can get pissed on this site so easily, people take everything seriously. Insulting the X-box to some people is like insulting thier religeon or thier mother. In some cases, I'd expect you'd look after your 360s then your own gfs or parents.

Lol, I don't need to back up my explanation, I only have to sit in America and watch TV at my holiday home, after 5 minutes of watching TV I feel less intelligent then I was previously, not saying Americans are stupid, but I am saying that what you all enjoy may bore the rest of the world half to death, I just have to switch it off and go do something else. Its no wonder ya'll love shooters so much, nothing against shooter lovers, but ya gotta admit, they are about as bad as PS adverts in terms of intelligence, shoot to kill, thats the way it goes, woot! ^^

So if Americans are big on war games and have the most advanced military in the world, what does that say about the UK? When Microsoft tapped your shoulder, all you offered up as your best was Kameo and Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and now Banjo Kazooie.

I don't even like shooters and that's an easy pick. Good thing you've got all that brain food TV to keep your IQ up, because you definitely can't depend on your domestic gaming products to keep you from drooling on yourself.

Last time I checked some of our popular TV shows included The Office, American Idol (um, didn't you guys have a show Pop Idol a while back), Who's Line is it Anyways, What not to wear.... =p

Balance that with some healthy doses of 24, Battlestar Galactica, and Heros and you have one great week of TV watching.

Anyways, don't you all get bored and tired of the same British Dry Humor all the time? It's like eating vanilla ice cream all day long. Good at first, but, after a while....oh yieks, rescue me!

To be truly honest, the first thing that came to mind upon the announcement of a Halo movie was Masterchief doing what he does best, annihilating an entire alien race like all the other shooter heros. Pull out those big guns and go on a popping spree. Add some LOTR special effects and there you have it, a brainless but actionpacked shooter based movie. If they had a chance to use Arnold as Masterchief, they would, heck, why not use Sylvester Stallone, besides, Master Chief hardly says much in either of his two games apart from "Affirmative" "got it" "I never miss" "I am so cool" "look at that alien I just blasted" and talks to an imaginary woman in his head :O What serious acting is that? If Arnold was still around, it would have been as simple as sticking a green suit on him, getting him to say a few cool things, and handing him an assult rifle.

"Lights! Camera! Action! Arnold do what you do best! Make those Halo fans happy!"
And his reply: "Got it! I never miss!"

Of course its not as simple as that, otherwise every tom, dick, harry and thier cat would be applying for the role, you have to be a macho man with an 8 pack, not 6, sound cool because you have to influence the younger generation into violence, oh, and be able to run into the midst of a war on your own and come out of it with just a few scratches to the chest part of your green suit ^^

Meh, the Office sucks, but do you know whats worse? A remake was made over there of an already dry comedy, and it was twice as bad... and then theres Lost...Lost pretty much has me Lost, had it been made here, hmm, maybe it would have made more sense, lmao, Polar bears? Tyrannosaurus Smoke? Being interviewed, actor Matthew Fox (Jack) said it was the "best show on television" now considering the fact he lives over there, thats saying something :)

I love Americans otherwise I wouldn't have a holiday home over there, lol, I just can't stand thier TV, movies or games. Luckily I am in a world where DVDs, Internet, friends and outside activities are available so every time I come to enjoy my holiday over in Tampa, Miami Keys, Calafornia and Mexico, I'll just make sure I have these things and I'll be just fine ;)

Back on topic, from this game, you can basically get an idea of what to expect from God of war 3, but hopefully there will be some additional content at some stage in time as the problem with these sorts of games is that the fun starts to fade when moves become repetitive and the game is suprisingly short. GOW took 2 days to complete, 1 if I had started playing it first thing in the morning rather then at mid-afternoon. And I also hope that you will be attacked on all sides, there is nothing worse then a game where enemies stand around like complete planks and wait for you to finish with another of the enemies. Speaking of which, if and when there is another Dynasty Warriors game, I hope they too take this to mind, with the graphical upgrade, I also expect to see some realism in terms of how enemies attack you.
