Independant developers have come to realize digital distribution is probably the best way to get their names out to the public. As Zee-3's Ste Pickford put it, "For us it's not just the best way of getting a game out, it's the only way. I think it's a great thing and I think it'll replace retail... Most of the arguments against are really from people lacking in imagination - that's the way it is because that's the way it is."Pickford spoke a little about XBox Live (his words, not ours): "Potentially, for people like us it's brilliant, but at the moment I think the door is closed. There are very few people allowed to release games and I think it really comes down to who you know, and whether you're friends with the gatekeeper at Microsoft." You know what we have to say to that? True. Same thing probably applies with Sony. Ya gotta know someone to get your vision on their digital marketplace. But you know... at Sony... we don't have any of those pesky size limits. Would that be considered a little more freedom? Indie developers, petition Sony for your attention! Sony, pay attention to the little guys! Wouldn't you all agree? It's the independant developers' only chance.
