Exclusive games FTW! How do 360, PS3 & Wii stack up?

In the console wars, exclusive games are the weapons of mass destruction. Without them, what fanboy would dare launch a forum fit against his sworn enemies? Gaming Target's regularly updated list charts the number of exclusives available on each of the Big Three's latest. Handheld systems aren't included, nor are downloadable games.

The results show that, aided by a one-year head start on the market, Xbox 360 is clearly in the lead with 80 exclusive titles, just over half of which are unreleased. Wii comes in second with 53, and PlayStation 3 trails with just 39 exclusives. If the current trends continue, Xbox 360 will continue to steal away its share of previously PS3-only games (Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII, we're looking at you), while the Wii gets plump with PS2 remakes and wacky Wiimote games.

Even if you included each console's downloadable games service, the pecking order probably wouldn't change. Xbox 360 has a modest collection of exclusives available on Xbox Live Arcade and the Wii Virtual Console (do oldies count as exclusives?) is growing rapidly -- PlayStation Network not so much. But remember, a stockpile of WMDs isn't the only deciding factor in a console war.

its no surprise the 360 is blowing others away right now. and to think MOST of the best games arnt even out yet.

mass effect, bioshock, and halo 3 will be the biggest this year by far.

I still say that big name franchises like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Halo, Zelda, etc aren't going to be what determines the 'winner'.
It'll be a game that no one sees coming out of the blue and blows everyone's socks off. That's what happened with the PS1 and FFVII (which, don't get me wrong, was a known franchise, but didn't have NEARLY the amount of pull it did until FFVII) and GTA3 on the PS2.

For me, I don't know of any upcoming exclusives for any system that would blow the doors off this thing.
...but then, that's kinda the point, I suppose :p

Incorporating other people's ideas into your project without paying your dues and giving cradit to it's creator is nothing Sony fan's should boast about because that pathetic simpleminded mentallity essentially reflects back upon Sony gamers within itself wich is truly pathetic because it leads me to believe that the Sony fans are like sharks that bite other peoples style's like the way someone talks,dresses,or takes a shit and so on.....

People STILL forget how horrible Xbox360 was for its first 6-9 months. There were no good games, and it Xboxlive had problems such as not being able to background download. Sound familiar? PS3 is a much better machine and once it starts to pick up steam, Xbox360 will go the way of the first Xbox. A large clunky box that plays Halo.

I loved plenty of the games within that window of months for 360, but I guess that's a matter of opinion. As for your last part, something that plays Halo gets plenty of attention last time I checked. :D

farbod. that "large chunky box" set alot of standards that $ony later followed. or is trying to follow in a half ass kind of way.

and i dont care what ANYONE says. if you dont like FPS thats fine. but halo is by far the best FPS shooter ever made.

im starting to think these random halo attacks have something to do with stupid fanboys maby actually liking FPS but their playstation just cant get anything right in that category.

Well before anyone starts prasing the 360, it has 80 exclusives. PS3 with 39 close to 40. Almost half the amount and PS3 hasn't been on the market for a year. Just something to point out.

360- 1 yr= 80 Exc titles
Ps3- 5months = 39 Exc titles

Not even half a year and PS3 has almost half, which when doubled it amlost adds up the same. But 360 didn't have any competition for a year, so this is good for PS3 knowing that they almost have half the amount of exc titles as 360 WITH competition in the mix. PS3 nor Wii had no 1 year advantage,and they are doing great IMO.

Chirst, it isn't as if all the exclusive titles that are coming out on either consoles are good. Just buy whichever system you want to play those games on.

If you really want to look at trends, you would mention the trend of PS3 losing exclusives and Xbox360 consistently gaining those games in their library.

You can add LITTLE BIG PLANET to the list of PS3 exclusives. It will be downloadable at first, but will be sold on blu-ray soon after that.

Frosty- well lol, that's what a year's head start gives you lol. I'm looking at it from an overall stand point. Look at what the PS3 has, and has done to get people into the system or turn away.

My logic you may say is flawed, but you don't need logic to know having a year headstart gives some advantages. And PS3 is working to do the best they can because its mroe complex. Wii has it made.

So I'm saying w/PS3 having the price in non favor of the public, and the bad Pr an dlack of games, they are trying. That's what I'm looking at. Not at the failures like most people here.

I always wondered since ppl hate PS3 so much, they usually get the most comments lol. Good or bad, it's showing PS3 is getting attention from every aspect and people have their eyes on Sony. If they like them or not.

i looked at the 360 list. and this is my general impression of good games that would have some effect on a console purchase. some of the released ones are pretty old(from launch) so sorry. but this is MY list of games that would make me buy a 360 over ps3

At this point, titles also aren't just added recently. Maybe next year we can start arguing a 360 advantage, but most, if not all, of those titles were announced before any of the systems were released.

Of course, the real kicker is quality. That is up in the air as any of the unreleased titles can be winners or complete bombs (any, that includes Halo 3, MGS4 or Mario Galaxy).

How many of those "exclusive" games have been also released and will be released on PS3? I'm looking at you Splinter Cell:DA, Enchanted Arm, Oblivion, Saints Row, Fight Night 3. To me losing exclusives when a game was released then appeared on another console later on and it wasn't annouced on it to begin with.

Sorry Steve17 but that's not valid. I mean 360 may have the edge with what's out now, but with the unreleased games thing, that's not acceptable.

Every unleleased game for the 360 u stated can be contered with an exclusive that PS# has, that someone may say they "games that would make me buy a PS3 over 360"

But I agree, the original Xbox was an amazingly well designed machine, and features from it appear on all the current gen systems. Anyone who can't admit that the original Xbox's hardware innovations were solid and influential is living in some kind of fantasy world.

thats exactly why in an ealrier post i said someone should do the same with ps3 and wii.

i was kind of dissapointed no one put in the effort to weed out the "good" exclusives from the "shit" ones.

since looking at shear numbers wasnt good enough for you guys i proposed doing that.

Let me back off from the harshness of my first post. I do own a 360, and I did own the original Xbox. Im not a fanboy of any system. I hope all systems come out with good games. My point is that PS3 is not behind what the Xbox 360 was this time last year. Plus they have superior hardware. No one can argue that. If you think PS3 wont be a very strong system, you are sadly mistaken. Why has microsoft disenchanted me? Well because every game Ive bought from them, from fable to halo to crackdown gets old after about 8 hours. Besides online multiplayer most of these games are super short. If you JUST want to play against people online well I guess we dont wont agree. Plus I do have a 1080p and 360 has some serious problems in the HD department...

It's not about the amount of exclusives, it's about variety and quality of games and services combined. Xbox 360 keeps getting games aimed at the hardcore PC gamer. Nintendo is getting many exclusives because their games can be ported, still most of the "exclusive" games it has gotten have been underwhelming, or kid oriented. PlayStation 3, while the one that has the "least" exclusives, it has the most variety in genres, and the best services too.

One would hope that the system with the most sales would truly smash the competition in a year. But no, the PSHome has killed achievements, and the Wii has gone $50-150 under with more innovative controls.

Armored Core is on 360. Other than that, nice list. I want all games for all consoles, but the list for PS3 is the best.

Other than the ones you mentioned, I wanna download PS1 games I missed on PS1, and I wanna keep playing my PS2 games on the same console. I also think the offerings on the PlayStation Network are better than the ones on Xbox LIVE and Nintendo, especially considering Home's coming.

i said pick the GOOD exclusives. not just copy and paste the whole list. and assasins creed is 360 exclusive.

and just cause its exclusive doesnt make it good.
i got rid of 2/3 the xbox list just to pick the good ones. alot of those exclusives noone cares about.

LOL, ok I exaggerated. I'm not buying a Wii to play Zelda when I have a gamecube. The marginal difference is not worth 250 bucks, and I don't want any of the childish games or mini-games available for Wii right now, namely Warioware, elebits, wii play, wii sports, wii R' tards, and so on. I'll probably wait till Manhunt 2, Sadness, Mortal Kombat and original VC titles, not games I don't want to re-buy, come out.

It's gonna be available on both at the same time, and if I were you, I'd choose the PS3 version; you know, trophies, free-online, more content (blu-ray), more durable discs (again! blu-ray), less loading times (HDD in every box).

half the xbox games suck so i picked the good ones. half the ps3 ones will suck so pick those good ones too.

and i heard AC was 360 exclusive. sorry if im wrong. either way. AC wont make or break the 2007 year.

Not surprising given the 1 year head start MS had. Nintendo, of course, will have extremely high-quality exclusives, but unfortunately spaced far apart from one another.

o.o looking at this list of exclusive software and no where else, I would probably say these 11 exclusives are worth buying on the ps3.

MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Heavenly Sword, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, Lair, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Ratchet & Clank 5, White Knight Story

Of course this is my personal preference, yours may differ, as may your opinion on which titles will stay exclusive, either way it seems to be a good list.
