Peter Jackson working on episodic Halo content
During the second annual "Blogger Breakfast," Microsoft's Shane Kim revealed that Peter Jackson's forthcoming Xbox 360 projects will be episodic. "Peter Jackson is developing two episodic series," said Kim, reconfirming, "the first is in the Halo universe." Both projects are still lingering in their early design phases, but Microsoft hopes they will eventually serve as models for other developers to follow. When pried for more details about the as-yet-unnamed second series and release strategies for the content, Kim remained tight-lipped: "I may have said too much already." In reality Kim has added very little to what was already known. The lone revelation: (after all the talk) Microsoft is finally preparing to walk the 'episodic' walk. Good thing Jackson appears to be in shape -- it might be a long trek.

More and more companies are dubbing games "episodic." Until they start getting release dates like Sam & Max, I suggest companies in gereal stay away from this term for their 3 hour games.

I hate episodic content.

Geo @ Mar 7th 2007 4:18PM

The concept of episodic content is really bothersome to me as well, i don't really know why, but i'd rather wait 1-2 years and get my $40-$60 worth all at once, instead of in 10 installments across 2 years

Woah, did Peter Jackson lose a lot of weight?
Jiffylush @ Mar 7th 2007 5:17PM
Guess he has a lot of time since 'the hobbit' has been delayed or cancelled :(
Funny, Andy Serkis (Gollum) was working on Heavenly Sword.
Those Aussie's are all over the place.
PJ being involved definitely peaks my interest.
t1nt1n @ Mar 7th 2007 5:27PM
Andy Serkis is British for god's sake. Why do Americans always get us mixed up?
Phenriz @ Mar 7th 2007 5:55PM
i'm canadian and i get your accents confused at times too.
Jake @ Mar 7th 2007 6:04PM
I'm from Minnesota and my accent is confused as Canadian sometimes. I get Aussie and Brit accents mixed up sometimes as well.
Mr Khan @ Mar 7th 2007 6:09PM
Besides, isn't peter jackson a Kiwi, not an Aussie?
Why else would he film all the movies in New Zealand?
Benjamin Breeg @ Mar 7th 2007 6:12PM
I hate how they waste amazing MOVIE directing talent on video games, just because they have the money to do so.
Jon-Angelo @ Mar 7th 2007 6:13PM
Since PJ said this wouldn't exactly be a "game" per se or a movie, I'm really hoping this doesn't turn into a "Press A!" when Master Chief has to jump over a ledge (like Shenmue's cutscenes).
But I have faith in PJ fleshing out a story, hopefully he's hooked up with some fairly talented programmers and game designers.

If Peter Jackson is making it, there's no doubt it will be good.
Espatross @ Mar 7th 2007 7:57PM
How can you get british and Austrailian accents mixed up? It's like mixing up a southern accent and a new england accent. They sound nothing alike!
steve17 @ Mar 7th 2007 10:22PM
halo is spreading out all over the place. halo 1-3, halo wars, halo movie, and now this PJ halo "thing"
all are superb. or are looking to be.
nick @ Mar 8th 2007 4:19AM
peter jackson is a kiwi, how can people get british and aussies mixied up, they dont sound alike at all, wouldn't ya get aussies and kiwi's mixed up. the reason lord of the rings was shot in NZ was its set in middle earth not and orange continent like oz is. i think episodies would be good because if u dont like it after the first download you could stop and it keeps you wanting more.
geves @ Mar 8th 2007 7:20PM
does this mean halo 3 is going to have a shitload of walking in it?
