Once again, I find it extremely hard to find an ou nce of respect for a company that so readily dismissed 'rumble' as not needed. Now they decide Sony owners can buy a new controller WITH rumble? Weak. This should have been included from day one and sony should have swallowed thier damn pride and settled with Immersion to get rumble right from the start.

Exactly what #1 said. It adds to the experience when it's done right. When it's there just because it could be put in, it just feels kind of nice in your hands (or wherever you decide to stick it ;)).

Didn't they also say motion-sensing was a gimmick? Yeah, look what happened to that.

Sony needs to STFU and just give us what we want.

I think the phrase, "A day late and a dollar short" applies to Sony lately. When the PS3 launched they were met with a huge hardcore consumer backlash and now they're trying to kiss & make up. Either this means they're owning up to the fact that they can't tell consumers what they want or they're being pussies for not sticking to their guns. What do you think?

Jack looks dickey the same way Peter Moore looks dickey. I swear if these two weren't working for Sony/Microsoft they would be selling cars.

As far as RUMBLE goes, IT HAS TO COME BACK.

RUMBLE BELONGS ON THE SIXAXIS. PERIOD!!!!

Also, Sony needs to release a more ergonomic controller for those motion games.

I WANT RAVING RABBIDS FOR PS3!!!!

I know, rumble is so last-gen! You know what's also last-gen? Audio. Let's just get rid of it. I can't stand audio. Whenever I play, I just turn it off.

Rumble is definitely last-gen.

So is the A button, + Control Pad, and shoulder buttons.

As far as I'm concerned, the only things that need to be removed from the "last gen" are cords.

I will not buy a Playstation 3 unless it gets rumble and the price drops at least $200.

@ Assemblyline human

By then, Nintendo will have released a console slightly more powerful with a more effecient processor for the same price

See if it doesn't happen...

I agree with 12's statement, however, I would go farther. To purchase a PS3 I would require the following:

1. A price drop of at least $200.
2. At least 98% backwards compatibility with all PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games.
3. Enhancement for PS and PS2 games, similar to how the PS2 provided options for faster loading and smoother textures on PS games (something I can say I personally used quite a bit and loved).
4. Exclusive and necessary PS3 titles.

Considering I highly doubt issues 2 and 3 will be addressed to my liking, there's a good chance I may never purchase a PS3. Their loss.

By offset sticks do you mean the left stick and dpad swapped? If so I'd be totally all over that. Even WITHOUT the addition of rumble. Sick and tired of the dualshock layout.

15.

I feel the same way. The layout is great for RPGs since you're spending most of the time flipping through menus, but it's not so great for...well...pretty much any other kind of game.

The upside of this whole thing is, maybe putting rumble in will make the controller a little heavier. As of now, it just doesn't feel substantial enough. Every time I have to shake one of those monsters off in Resistance, I feel like I'm gonna mistakenly throw the damn thing across the room...

I agree with #15. Since they're copying everyone and everything else, they might as well copy the 360's superior design. My thumbs hurt whenever I look at a PS controller.

here is the thing with the rumble feature in the ps3...who needs the controler to rumble if you want a rumble feature hook your system up to a dolby digital 5.1 reciever (like its made to be anyways) and dont be afraid to give it a little volume and bass...tell me that isnt much better than the controler shaking. and if you want added rumble (like i did) get a couple of inexpensive bass units and place them under the couch. WAY BETTER THAN ANY RUMBLE FEATURE THAT THE CONTROLER EVER HAD!!!!

Guys hey at least sony came out with a new console. Hell if you dont respect what sony is doing then get the heck out. I didnt even really care for the rumble it doesnt even phase me. All these blogs are for is to yell and scream at each other and not make it anywhere. If you want something you have to go out and do something about it. Also I play all kinds of games and the controller needs to stay the way it is, that is the playstation controller. Also Sony wanted to add the motion sensor in the original playstation but it would cost the consumer almost more than the ps3 cost today. I seriously hate microsoft but I have to deal with it because that is what everyone else wants these days. When the Ps3 comes out with more games you will see who is the realy ruler in the console run.

OK, I must lay this thing down flat in honesty. We need the shock feature on the SIX because the motion feature isn't really needed in most games and less interactive then the Rumble feature. But I am happy that Sony is considering this. Please, listen to your consumers!!! There's right, there's wrong and then there's this! They should have never took the feature out. It isn't like we went from 8 track to CD. That's understandable because they held the same purpose. If they took it out because they had a more evolved rumble feature. Consumers wouldn't be so angry. In this instance they are comparing apples with oranges. And telling you, now that we are having oranges... apples are obsolete! I call the BULL SHIT FLAG!!! It has nothing to do with the future. It's the law suit and pride. Swallow it for the more better good sony. You've made a mistake so man up. Your faithful will continue to follow suit. But if you ignore your consumers it will hurt your business. And to reasonably please your consumers is a good thing cause it's just good business. But this is a set back because now even if there is one made. Those same customers that already bought your product have to shell out.. (You know it will be more expensive then the Six!) An extra 50 plus dollars for a new controller with the feature we all wanted to continue to have in the first place. But, I am happy that they are making any steps in the right direction with this..cause at lunch it wasn't open to discussion. And I must make a note about the Sony Haters! Just stop it! Microsoft is just as bad if not worse with this Elite thing. They went back to the drawing board because they know for a fact that PS3 is a better system. PS3 First Gen looks as good as Their 2nd/3rd Gen games. Xbox is very scared of the future. So they went to save face.. drop their low end Xbox change premium to the Elite in the future. Because PS3 Simply has more beef, better features and more area to expand. Now you have to pay for the "NEW" Xbox to keep up with the Joneses (PS3's really) Just to have an HDMI input and a larger (Let's play the numbers game) 120GB Hard drive. Which are features the PS3 Already has that they felt they didn't need in the first place. And it still doesn't have the HD DVD or Blu Ray system on it. So that's a bigger boo boo to me then the Six is. Xbox and XBox fans be scared..be very scared! LOL
