"He hadn't created a game before, saying, "[I] studied pretty hard, read all the books, [and] came to GDC. At the end of the development cycle, we thought we had a really good game. ... We gained a fair amount of confidence."

But Gitaroo-man was a retail disappointment. "It sold, like, nothing," Yano continued. "Any confidence that we had built was completely crushed like a fly. At this point, we had kind of lost all confidence in the music genre. ... We really did a lot of soul-searching back then.""

thats really sad to read, as much as gitaroo man wasnt a commercial sucess, its widely regarded by most people who know of it to be absolutley awesome. I'd never have considered buying ouendan if it wasnt for gitaroo man.

Would anyone have bought Elite Beat Agents if they starred the Disco Rangers?

...then again, Ouendan starred male cheerleaders...

I can't help but think, "that man pictured has the most round head in the history of the world." That's all.

Look at that first picture of Keiichi Yano with that gayly smile. He looks like he is about to do a flamboyant 3 finger snap in a "oh no you didn't" fashion.

If they were Disco Rangers, what would Zordon look like? Do you think that'll become the next Power Rangers theme? I love EBA and so does my sister and her friends. Might import the sequel but not the original.

He looks like Billy Crystal mixed with Bill Murray.

While the game may be a little less zany, the agents are just -cool-. Especially Cmdr. Khan. He'd better be playable in the new Smash Bros!

I personally believe Yano went a little bit overboard with the "Americanization" of the game. Sure, male cheerleaders won't work in America, but I think much of the themes didn't need to be changed so drastically.

I can talk forever on the topic, so I won't bother. Instead, if anyone is curious, you can read my whole rant on Ouendan vs. EBA in my blog (after two initial paragraphs about Guitar Hero).
