Wow. That was the greatest moment of my life too, and I was a couple hundred miles away.

I wish I could meet him one day.
He should come to Toronto for an autograph signing, I'll go there for that.

"That was the single greatest moment of my life. He stood in front of me, he smiled, he took my game, he signed it, he shook my hand."

What a boring life that guy has led. After that comment, I hope he doesn't have any kids and is not married...although judging by that comment, I find it hard to believe he IS married.

Maybe he's just never seen a Japanese person before.

I had a chance to meet Miyamoto and talk with him very briefly at E3 2005. I work in the industry and having a chance to meet and talk with him was amazing. The man truly is humble. The shocking thing was he was just walking around with no entourage what so ever. One of the best experiences I have ever had with an industry veteran. He even posed for pictures.

And then Maxis' Spore Developer Chris Heckler butted in and told Miyamoto "By the way, the Wii is a piece of shit, and you have no artistic ability-go make something that doesn't suck ass next time."

When you're a creative person (like a game developer), moments like that *are* better than marriage, kids, and the like.

Um, no they're not.

You try telling your pregnant wife that the greatest moment of your life was meeting Shigeru Miyamoto.

I had a similar experience when I went to see Alexey Pajitnov speak one time. After the presentation, I went down to meet him. He signed my copy of Gameboy Tetris and shook my hand. I was probably in a similar state of mind at the time.

Meeting people you've looked up to for your whole life can be a very powerful experience. Do I still think it was the greatest moment of my life? No. Do I think it was even the best moment up until then? Certainly not. But it was a very powerful experience at the time. Many of these people have shaped our childhoods. Don't be so quick to criticize when someone is riding the high of meeting one of their heroes.

Yes! I met Shigeru Miyamoto this morning after Takeshi Shimada's session. We exchanged business cards, and he was nice enough to pose for a picture with me. Afterwards, I hurridly dialed a several friends and heard myself uttering the same words chronicled above. Sure, it was said with a bit of exaggeration, but the man's a legend. Getting to meet him may not have (technically) been the greatest moment of my life, but it was Top 5 easily. ^___^

Wow. I can't believe that! Ladies and gentlemen, this article is about me.

For those who said that I have led a boring life, you can kindly jump off of bridges. Like the last guy said, when you meet someone you've looked up to your entire life - who is the whole reason you're in the industry - it's a pretty amazing experience, especially when you're not expecting it.
