I'm kind of there with 46. I cannot go back to dual analog FPS control. It always sucked and is never responsive enough. I always liked PC shooters better then console shooters. The only exception to that is when light guns were more popular. Then it was fine. But that was demolished by flat panel TVs and such. Now I can go back and use a similar control scheme to the PC. Its almost a cross breed between a light gun and a mouse. The response is unmatched. Call of Duty 3 has me totally convinced. It looks like Wii FPS online FTW for me. Yes the wii has some ball sucking downfalls. Yes Nitnendo is sometimes run by a bunch of retards. But all in all the controller itself is a great idea. I wish I could play Gears of War with this controller instead of the dual analog. Analog just sucks ass for controlling shooters and thats the way it is. To compensate for the inaccuracy of analog shooting games, the devs add a doom like feature to make up for this. This is the point in the genreal direction and you usually hit the target (especially when they are far away). With the wii its you are dead on or not. No question about it. The only people who will have problems playing a Wii FPS will be people with extremely shaky hands.

One last thing I thought I'd mention. I saw a diasabled kid in a wheel chair playing the wii. He was similar to Steven Hawkins in that he could only move one hand. He would totally have trouble playing any FPS but he could play wii sports. And he played it well. SO the wii has some advantages in that area as well.

It might work. It may also be a pain int he butt. I was kind of happy with the COD3 controls. It responsive enough for me. I think I will have to get Medal of Honor Vangaurd to try out their version which is said to be improved. Also don't expect great graphics int his game since it is an EA title and we know how EA does.

Whenever a consumer product or service hits it big time there's always a group of people out there that will start to hate it just because everyone loves it. Of course, they'll come up with reasons why it's so lame and why the "masses" are so stupid and ignorant or not "real".

I get it people, some of you don't like the (insert console here), whatever that's fine, but obviously there are some here that do like (insert console here), arguing with them isn't going to suddenly change their mind (yes I realize that my post isn't going to change any fanboys/girls minds).

They aren't going to wake up in the middle of the night and think to themselves, "Oh my god that random poster was right the (insert console here) is lame!"

I own all three of the new systems, but I am enjoying my 360 more, actually, a lot more, but things can change in this industry real fast, a year from now the Wii or PS3 may be my most played system, so, if you have the cash why deny yourself the pleasure of just being simply a gamer and not a cliche fanboy and/or girl?

This is exactly the control scheme the Wii needs. To everyone who is saying they are happy with the current system or that Metriod will define the standard you're living in a console controller world and need to expand your horizons more.

Think of it this way. Currently even the best tweaked systems for FPS control involve moving the one thing you use to shoot enemies with to the edge of the screen and then back again to the target. This is insane and no different to using a analogue stick to rotate the screen (well with the exception of you can at least shoot while moving).

Now, with this new scheme. Imagine a mouse in one hand, U,D,L and R movements all relate to a similar AND accurate movement of the screen (a button would be need to allow centering of the nunchuck in a similar way to lifting the mouse). Your thumb would replicate the WASD keys and you'd have one/two buttons spare for Jump/Crouch/Sprint etc.

Wiimote now aims (which no PC shooter can do!). You also have a few buttons and the same gesture system to enchance the gaming further.

I see it being one of those sounds complicated but is naturally intuitive control schemes. One that can and will surpass even the PCs Key/Mouse combo.

This is great news for the Wii and FPS fans. Its a shame the comments got dragged down into idiotville.

Hm...with the wii-mote free from any motion controls that would allow people to weild duals and shoot in multiple directions. Tell me that doesn't sound interesting as long as the wii-mote doesn't have the ability to move the screen.

This doesn't mean that the wii-mote still can't be used as the gun. The wii-mote can serf the screen, while the nunchuck controlls the camera. Or like I said earlier you could have all the shooting and aiming attached onto the nunchuck and have the wii-mote used as a second gun when weilding duals allowing you to shoot in multiple directions.

If they get this right I imagine LucasArts will be calling them a visit...

> # 47, Evan
> The PSP, PS2, PS3, N64, GC, Wii, and DS all use the OpenGL graphics library

As someone who has actually _shipped_ a PS2 title, and currently working on a PS2 _and_ Wii title, you don't know what you're talking about Evan.

On the PS2, the sce*() calls are no where close to being "OpenGL" like. If you want high level (or even basic!) rendering, you write yourself.

The Wii's GX interface is "OpenGL" like, but it certainly isn't OpenGL! I know, because I'm _implementing_ a mini-GL on the Wii.

Why don't you try talking to someone who works in the industry before making up false claims.
