Castle Crashers gets bumped into 2008

Joystiq cornered The Behemoth's Dan Paladin after the GDC awards ceremony and asked about a release time-frame for Castle Crashers. To their (and our) dismay, Mr. Paladin stated that there was still "about a year of development left" on the XBLA title. Shocked, Joystiq then inquired to whether The Behemoth was going to take advantage of the 100MB bump in the XBLA size limit and were pleased to learn that Castle Crashers would benefit by adding additional features and content. So, we'll be seeing more Castle Crashers content, but will also have to suffer a longer wait. With a year or more of development nobody will be having any Castle Crashers fun until 2008 ... so you better make one hell of a game Mr. Paladin, because this hurts. This hurts a bunch.

WHAAAT? What the hell? This HAS to be further along than what they're illuding to here. I want to call this an early April Fool's joke, but it's too early..

Nooo, Behemoth...Castle Crashers was going to be a major reason for me to get a second controller in a few weeks or a month or so.

This really needs more than nine more months plus?? I can't believe that.

I find it hard to believe a game like this could take so long to create. If the delay is true, that sucks very much, as I only started getting hyped for this game earlier this week.

They must be too busy killing puppies and kittens. That's the reason for the delay. It's the only reason that makes sense.

Ok, if Xbox Live arcade games are taking over a year to create and get into people hands then there has to be a problem. It's not even a full on Retail release. Can the company afford to delay the game like this?

You guys..with this game pushed back..or whatever you wanna call it..what are your top 2 XBLA games you'd want now? Has the 2008 date changed your immediate wants list any?

Castlevania: SOTN remains my #1 for sure..(and if my 360 wasn't bricked, i'd hope for it this week coming up...but I can assume it'll be Turtles Arcade.)

My #2 was actually Tetris, until they decided to go wierd and release it as a 'full' retail game. Now, with Castle Crashers 'gone', I have no next best choice, actually.

Vaporware. Nobody will give a shit about this game 1 year from now.

I'm kinda glad they're saying "about a year left" or whatever, cuz it will be a nice suprise if they release it earlier, which they probably will.

Forget SotN on XBLA. Get the PSP port. Meh, nevermind, I forgot the PSP's d-pad is like sh*t run over twice.

Mike..the whole reason I'm excited for SOTN on XBLA is the widescreen HD, acheivements, and perhaps gamer pics and a theme or two. It'd also do me good to see friends play it; I really think it's the best side scroller ever.

I got a few I'm looking forward to. SOTN, TMNT, Double Dragon

One word comes to my mind: BAH! I have been waiting for this a REALLLLLLLY long time, and this really sucks. I just hope TMNT's release will keep me occupied for a while to come.

I'm not sure why this delay comes as a shock. I mean, you guys reported yourself that Tom Flup said "it has a ways to go"

I just assumed it would be October/November before it'd arrive.

Wow, don't know why they would need another year for this game. Seems a little absurd to me, as I was playing this game at pax last summer, and it looked and played like a beta version of the game. It's not like the gameplay is very deep or anything.

on a serious note...i think this is either an early april fools joke (invented by someone with bad taste) or they said "at least another year" so that when they come out with it in 2 months they'll get praised for doing it so quickly.

Wow, that sucks, but if they take that year and turn it into a super-duper-awesome XBLA game then it'll be worth it. I'll just have to play Worms and C:SOTN until that day comes.

Can someone post a link to Worms video for me please? Since I've never played it I'd love to see what it looks like in actual gameplay.

Why don't they just release it when it was originally intended to be released, then release the extra content for it through the Marketplace?

Even GRAW 2 was made in less than a year. This has no reason to take any longer. And those 4 teams this week had 4 DAYS to make an XNA game.

This better be an April Fool's joke, cause it doesn't make sense any other way.
