It seems that Microsoft's decision to expand the size restriction of Xbox Live Arcade games has become a double-edged sword, especially to fans of sword-swinging, skull-crushing adventure, Castle Crashers. After congratulating The Behemoth's Dan Paladin on the team's IGF award win at the Wednesday evening's ceremony, we enquired about the game's release timeframe and were met with less than pleasing information.
Mr. Paladin noted that the XBLA title still had "about a year of development left," thus placing the completed Castle Crashers in 2008 at the earliest. Disappointing news, certainly, but not entirely without one of those consolatory silver linings that people love to point and stare at. When Joystiq asked about the length of the game, Paladin noted that the 100MB boost in the XBLA size limit had allowed The Behemoth to include even more content and features in the game, making it a fuller and more satisfying adventure overall.
Alright, 2008. Come over here please.

The game doesn't LOOK very complex...but still, better late (and better) than never.
Although it looks like I won't be picking up a 360 until at least 2008, since this and Banjo 3 are the only reasons I've seen that REALLY interest me in the system.

Seriously. This game has been hyped for at least 6 months. Why is a flash based brawler getting a Final Fantasy sized dev schedule?

Amen to that. Bring the damn game out already.
If you want to add crap, then do it down the road and release that as a separate download.
By 2008 this will be old news. Get while the gettin's good.

Is the game not very fun as it is? Is it simplistic and boring? Can it be finished too quickly by 4 people, multiplayer? Or is it so amazing that they want to expand it? Either way, this is putting too much expectation on this hopeful contender for 'quick smart arcade fun,' possibly making it the great hope that can't live up to the anticipation.
I guess we'll see... in 2008.

They have a game that fulfills its requirements, but then they realize they have to "fill up" the resources they have available, and start to make all kinds of fluff that ruins the experience. Full-blown retro games are what budget retail is for. Online distribution is for the small stuff that's not practical to sell in the store.
Jon is right. Release this game now, release the sequel next year.

I think people are treating 1 idiots comment as an offical delay or something. Just because theres 1 year of more development that could go into the game, does not mean its going to. There probably just saying they think the game is all that and a pile of monkeys.
Personally, I think the game looks boarderline terrible/average. I dont see what the hype is about? And yes fanboys, I do own a 360, I just care about better games then what this looks to be.

dang. I want this game so badly. I wonder why it's taking so long?

Granted, Castle Crashers doesnt look like much, but 2d games can take a hell of a lot longer to produce than 3d stuff.
Its completely situational.
Hopefully this just means CC will feel more complete.

How many people are making this game? What, four? I'd like to see any of you get three buddies and release a game on a console like the XBox 360. Mentioned games like Halo and UT have giant credit sequences for a reason -- they're made by probably hundreds of people.
They probably had a lot planned before the limit change. This is all as if getting a game published isn't a big enough bite in the ass.
