Hey, as long as they still release games I like, they can put out any gamut of kiddy/old person/non-games they want. Cheers.

I take it you didn't like Loco Roco, steve17? Then you probably won't like LittleBigPlanet, either. Shame, kiddy games are quite fun and artistic.

Who says Mercenaries doesn't appeal to kids. My 5 year old son loves that game for PS2, as well as Manhunt, Saint's Row, and all the GTA's. I don't really understand all this "Wii is for kiddies" hub-ub. I have found my young ones love these games.

Ah, 5-yr olds playing Manhunt. Warms the heart, don't it? You wouldn't happen to be handing Jake Jr. a spliff while playing too, wouldja? Be sure to catch that on tape-- heaps o' fun.

Kidding aside, I wish more games would allow you to tune down the interaction... a "wee bairn" mode. Super Monkey Ball would be a lot of fun if my kids didn't have to keep selecting stupid options. Same with Animal Crossing, and about a dozen puzzle and platformers that come to mind...

sorry #6 i never played locoroco but i might get a ps3 just for littlebigplanet. the kinds of games i refering to are: luigi's mansion, pokemon games, kirby games, spongebob you know, the saturday morning cartoon games. i love quirky, animated games, IF they are well done and not pointlessly silly.

i just look at nnintendo's rep as catering to the little buggers and i can guaratee the wii will get its fair share of the 6 year old aimed games.

superpixel,

Yes. Seeing little JJ (how'd you know?) all baked n shit getting a throat slit kill for the first time almost brings tears to my eye (unfortunate bb gun fight accident with JJ, he learns well). It is beautiful. I can't wait until he is old enough to enlist, just like daddy.

You did NOT just insult Kirby

he'll kick your ass at Super Smash Bros Melee ;)

point is, there's a fine line when Nintendo builds a game from one of thier precieved "Kiddie" franchises, and certain games DO wind up deliberately pandering to the cartooniness (Kirby Air Ride, all of the Pokemon games excluding the main RPGs or Stadium titles come to mind as well)

Then there are games like Kirby Canvas Curse, very well executed (Kirby Squeak Squad, now that i've finally played it, is awesome as well)

LittleBigPlanet is up in the air, its a good concept on paper, but then again so were Killzone and Red Steel

So, steve17,

Spongebob, Scooby Doo, and all those other "Saturday Morning Cartoons" are Nintendo franchises now? That's odd, I seem to recall that the libraries of all 3 systems last generation were fleshed out with horribly-made licensed cartoon and movie games.

i wasnt saying all three systems get their share of shit, cause they all do. but shit is ALL nintendo does. they have good titles, yes, but the MAJORITY of games nintendo licenses are games i lost all interst in at the age of 12. if you are 12 and under or you cant lose your childhood, or you just LOVE zelda, nintendo will do it for ya. otherwise it wont.

thats all i was sayin.

steve17,

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree :)

I've had just about every console since the Atari 3600, and I have to say that time and time again, 1st party Nintendo games have been the most fun. Cartoony, sure, but no other studio saw as much play time in my various apartments and houses. The gameplay is almost always rock-solid, and no one was ever alienated by subject matter or complexity.

Don't get me wrong, I'll play everything I can get my hands on, but I just can't agree when you say that Nintendo only makes shit. You may not like their games, but that's just not a true statement.

BTW Jake,

I think I was the only one who picked up on the heavy-handed satire you threw down in post #7. Nice work!

Anybody else catch this solid gold contradiciton in steve17's post?

"...but shit is ALL nintendo does. they have good titles, yes, but..."

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a grammatical error and not what he meant, but damn that was funny the first time I read it.

@19

lol, yes, my bad.

ok let me rephrase to stem some confusion. i didnt necissarily mean nintendo, but their 3rd party studios. i agree farseer 1st party ninty titles HAVE been a blast. but nintendo's ongoing problem is an abundant amount of shovelware from 3rd parties.

they can always throw metroid, zelda, and mario in there(all are great) but after you play the great ones on nintendo then you dont have alot of worthwhile games left to play.

No More Heroes

http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/clip-no-more-heroes-trailer-243118.php

At least this will be on the shelf next to Pandenmic's kid game. But I am still pretty bummed that Destroy All Humans doesnt seem to be coming to Wii. It just seems like the Wii Remote was destined for that game. Picking up people and throwing them across the city, shooting them with a tractor beam and ripping out their brains. I guess its just a lack of vision on their part.
