'Whirled' casual MMOG from Puzzle Pirates studio

A new MMOG is in the works from Puzzle Pirates creator Three Rings. The web-based virtual environment of Whirled will favor player-created content and social interaction over character development and time-consuming quests for the Magical Boots of Running +5. A Flash-based interface will allow for easy creation of items, furniture, avatars, and even complex multiplayer games.

Three Rings is to casual MMO games as Blizzard Entertainment is to life-dominating MMO games. Puzzle Pirates and Bang! Howdy are two of the most well-known indie MMOGs out there. If Whirled builds on the success, Three Rings executives will be lounging in private yachts right next to the Blizzard folk.

YAY!!!! this is the best news i've heard in a LONG time! i've been a fan of YPP for nearly 3 years now, my sub. is stil going, I beta-tested and still play bang howdy and i cant wait for whirled!!!! i'm so excited right now and i'm very happy to see that joystiq is posting indie news such as this.

I was in the beta for Puzzle Pirates waybackwhen. That game was freakin' awesome. Sucks the beta ended and I wasn't paying 15 bucks a month.

The Ringers wouldn't ever be caught dead lounging around on private yachts. Instead, they'll be sailing heavily-armed frigates, sending those Blizzard swabs down to Davy Jones' Locker. They're pirates, remember?

YPP has two different subscription types now. The flat rate $15 a month plan that opens everything or the option to play to play the main game for free and pay extra for individual components. I payed $6 eight months ago so I could play Hearts and now I pay for everything else with in-game currency. Check it out.
