Every Saturday, PSP Fanboy will answer your burning questions. If you have a question for the team, send an e-mail to andrew @ pspfanboy.com with the subject "Ask PSP Fanboy."
Q: Can you play the PSP on the TV screen without the PS3?
A: The PS3 does NOT allow you to play PSP games on the television: don't go buy one thinking you can! That being said, there are some ways of playing PSP games on the TV, but it's generally not a good option. Even using an official developer kit produces less than stellar images, simply because the PSP's 480x272 resolution looks pretty terrible on any television, in any resolution. If you're still desperate, you can try to mod your PSP, but that process is difficult. The best option appears to be this hilarious face-hugging Blaze TV Adaptor, which is easy to install, but provides less than stellar results. A good question to ask yourself is: why do you want to play PSP games on the TV in the first place?
[Update 1: Another option can be seen at Maxconsole: PSP2TV adaptor. Thanks, Dusty!]

Q: Has there been a release date for Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II in the US yet? I ran across them on Gamefly and they show a release date for both as 6/30/07. Do you know if this is right?
A: The Final Fantasy remakes are both listed on Gamestop's website, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're confirmed. Square-Enix hasn't made an official announcement yet, but the two releases haven't disappeared from Gamestop's website. Supposedly, the first remake will come in June, and the second in July.

Q: How can I make my jpeg, gif, and picture files such as .bmp display on my PSP?
A: It's very easy. Connect your PSP via USB. Create a directory called PICTURE on the system:

Place all your files there. If you'd like, you can create one level of subdirectory to organize your files.
Q: Will the GTA cheat device work on an unpatched copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on PSP? I have firmware 2.60.
A: Yes. Download it here.
