The real question is just who does Home and Miis apeall to. Yes Home is going to apeall to the hardcore gamers but is it going to apeall the same way that Miis are to non gamers?

Anything more 'powerful' than Miis would be counteractive to Nintendo's approach. In the variety of games I've had Create-a-Something (like Tony Hawk, AC, wrestling games) it takes forever. With Miis it's not. I suspect that games that will take advantage of Miis can adjust them to fit the game's parameters. It's even done in Wii Sports, though to a lesser extent.

Online gaming is something that Nintendo needs keep working on. Avatars aren't a big deal, in my opinion.

Though I don't doubt that Nintendo is already working on AC for Wii.

fat lot of good it does me when I can't even find a Wii to begin with. I see stacks of PS3's in a week, and not a Wii in sight. I refuse to pay nearly $400 for the base system when Nintendo can't seem to figure out how to put some trucks in drive...

Well, its not like they have new games to advertise. How do you guys like the Wii drought so far? Where are the 3rd party games?

Miis are lame. Home will destroy it, you it.

^Let me introduce you to fake shortages. You fool the public by making it look like your item is in demand, because you see the commercials, you hear the people talk about it, but you don't see it in the store. You become curios to what it is all about, most stores you go to have a display, but you can't really try it out. You become impatient, searching and trying to find the item by any mean. At the end of the day your goals wasn't playing the system, your goal was looking for it.

Personally, I think the Miis are WAY cooler than the Home avatars are.

Using them in other games like Wiisports and Warioware is great. I'd rather play with my little dudes than talk to people with them and walk around in a Second Life type environment.

Don;t know why, but I love my weird/funny lookin Mii characters.
If I tried to make things like that in Home they'd simply look like deformed people. Don't want to see that.

"fake shortages" arnt happening by the way.
It just so happens that Nintendo hasn't been shipping many consoles(DS included) to the states lately.
April is the supposed next BIG shipment. So we'll see then.

Where is the Block button? I'm tired of Optimus Prime's blatant stupidity and sour grapes as his beloved PS3 is getting its trash kicked to the curb by Nintendo.

Optimus: keep your wails of misery to yourself. You're wasting my bandwidth. And no one likes a sore loser.

@ chill

Tell that to the people at Katamari Demashi or Rez. Asshole.

Also, what is the point of getting a gimp SecondLife that throws advratising and if you want a chair you have to pay REAL CASH for it.

At least when I chose to have blond hair for my Mii, I do not have to pay $50 extra for it. -,-;

@ 13

They did the same thing for Microsoft as well.

They should know by now that 500,000-1,000,000 at launch isn't enough. Nintendo had between two-to-four million and they still didn't have enough.

But I don't see how this has anything to do with the thread.

isn't nintendo selling like a crazy lot of consoles right now? you can't do that if you limit the sales of units.

and the home is like exactly everything i wanted from the mii channel/animal crossing, two products i'd really really hoped would be inseperable. you know, with vc being some in game thing where you can buy games from a little store from tom nook, so that i didn't have to hate him. and you have like little cartridges. with instructions and boxes and yada yada with save files being like objects too. however, this has slick slim styings, which is great, but i'd preffer goofy nintendo charm instead, personally. but kudos to sony for getting it out the door so well. the gdc is really sony's show, finally.

Home is too complicated for the mainstream. Miis are aimed at physical social aspects while Home is all aout virtual social contacts. Which one do you think appeals to the mainstream more?(Hint: Second life only has 4 million usernames, many of those are multiples).

Miis are easy going, while PS3 Home will be chaotic. Hackers will be stealing from others and a virtual police force has to be establish. The Wii doesn't have online gaming and may never have it. That should be their focus and not selling Miis. And same goes for their one day a month "We got Wii" sale.

@ Rubang - Don't hold your breath hoping to see a Mii in Brawl. As cool as it would be.

I like Mii's but they really get on my nerves sometimes. All they do is walk in an arc, stop, chat, sneeze & fall asleep. Even Tamo-frickin-gotchi's can do more. And don't anyone dare tell me that more functionality would be too confusing for "caual gamers" 'cuz even my mother knows how to use a tamogochi.

Please Nintendo, could you give the Mii's something to do? Give us the ability to build houses n Communities - Sims style.

How about random sports games breaking out? Dice? Barbeques? A party? Line dancing? Anything! I've got Einstein in there for Jesus's sake! And Jesus as well! Think of how board they are!

At least let me spectate on others people sports games.

Ooh, I need an Einstein now.

You know, I've been playing games my whole life and I still have no idea what's going on with a Tamagotchi. I got the Tamagotchi for Game Boy because it's enhanced for the Super Game Boy (and I have a weird Super Game Boy collection fetish where I need all the Super Game Boy-enhanced games). Thing died on me the first day.

But I love the idea of a system update allowing your Miis to have picnics or barbecues in the Plaza. Considering they ask for your birthdays and do nothing with them, I expect an update to let them have birthday hats on for their birthday or something.

We might want something more substantial, but are we willing to pay for all that? I still haven't seen the word "premium" attached to the Mii system, while it was mentioned probably a dozen times in the Home presentation. So how much will that 'premium' cabinet to show off trophies from other games I bought, the one next to my 'premium' TV to show off trailers of Sony games and movies, cost me? More than the 'premium' apartment I put it in? The same as the 'premium' clothing on my not-Mii?

Well good to see Nintendo showing off the Mii's and Sony showing off Home and their apartment thingy. But hey WHAT ABOUT THE GAMES!!??!!

Do people still buy game consoles for that sorta stuff??

I guess that's where the 360 comes in.

What's the point of commercials? You can't find a fucking Wii anywhere. I called around Minneapolis Saturday. Called about 20 places. Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Kmart, Gamestop, hell even Walkmart. 30 mile radius. No body has the damn things so why advertise.

all those play on words with the Wii name and those advertisements showing people playing instead of the actual games makes me sick.
