Sonic Spinball, Tecmo Bowl & Double Dungeons hit Virtual Console

Nintendo takes a backseat this week while three third-party titles are launched for Wii's Virtual Console. Tecmo, which promised aggressive support back in August, has released its NFL license-free (and not-so-super) Tecmo Bowl ($5) for NES. The other two titles we already knew were coming: Sonic Spinball ($8) for Sega Genesis and Double Dungeons ($6) for TurboGrafx 16.

Though there is no specific VC release schedule (a predicament both Nintendo and Microsoft's downloadable services unfortunately share), we do know that Splatterhouse, Vectorman, and Beyond Oasis have been promised for this month.

I'm still waiting for titles like Super Mario RPG and Super Metroid. Maybe even Earthbound.

Mario RPG would rock.
My two biggest ones, though, are Secret of Mana and (as unlikely as it is), Space Mega Force.

Tecmo Super Bowl is the only football game I've ever been good at.

Unfortunately, the fact that Tecmo Super Bowl has the NFL license probably means it can't come out until the exclusive deal with EA is over.

Watch as I don't rush out to buy a Wii to play these... or even bother to download and emulate them for free.

The lack of Super Metroid is really starting to grind my gears! >:(

I have probably spent more time playing the original Tecmo Bowl than any other game, including Civ 2 and WoW. And even though I already have it on NES and emulator, I am buying a Wii today for this. Tecmo Bowl rules... Good thing you can't play online, because I would have to quit my job (not that anyone can touch me in TB anyway ;-) ).

Cap Bozo will destroy you.

TSB is hot, but the game is broke! C'mon, you can get a sack with the center EVERY play. But whatever, this isn't even TSB.
Now I want a 360. If they put the Simpsons arcade game on XBL I sell my Wii(just kidding)

I hate to break it to ya, Poisoned Al, but you probably wouldn't be able to find a Wii even if you did rush out to buy one.

I hope VC strengthens its release schedule. There are a lot of gems to be had. And I hope XBLA keeps dropping good stuff on us, too. Though, I'm still upset about Castle Crashers delay :(

You know what they should do to announce Tecmo Bowl for the VC?

Bo Jackson should be at a press conference. Then he should announce he's coming out of retirement. As the crowd murmurs, then the narrator announces Tecmo Bowl's back, for the VC.

And hey Nintendo - how about adding the Sega Master System library to the VC lineup? Phantasy Star 1 would sell through the roof. And maybe Zillion? :)

I'm glad the VC has more games than the actual Wii itself?Makes me glad I waited for one to get on launch day,money well spent.

Are we just not allowed to have new Wii games or??

I want my Paper Mario and Tecmo Basketball NES please.
