At the most recent Video Games Live performance, AMN caught up with Nintendo composer Koji Kondo and voice actor Charles Martinet, the sunny pair of pipes behind Mario and pals. The video interviews hit topics such as the success of the DS, the acceptance of the Wii with non-gaming crowds, and a tidbit or two of info about Super Mario Galaxy. Worth noting is Martinet mentioned he has yet to lend his voice to Super Mario Galaxy. Sound is usually one of the finishing touches on a game, so at the very least we know Nintendo isn't holding it back just to be mean.Koji Kondo and Charles Martinet interviewed at Video Games Live

Charles Martinet killed Mario. Damn I can't stand Mario's voice and overly happy personality.

While most Mario games seem to reuse the same obnoxious noises from Super Mario 64, please oh please oh please let this be a sign that Nintendo is going to abandon vocalwork in Galaxy or at least find another voice that suits the character.

Ha! Not a chance Steve. :p
Charles has been the voice of Mario since even before Mario 64. So to say he 'ruined' Mario is paradoxical since to Nintendo he sets the standard for Mario. Anything closer to Captain Lou, Peter Cullen, nor Bob Hoskins' voices would only stand out like sore thumbs. Though I would agree PEACH's voice is impossibly high. *shudders*
I read somewhere that there will actually be some interesting dialogue this time around. I won't be holding my breath just yet though.

If the game is well designed, definitely not.

Does Martinet remind anyone else of Robin Williams?
