Uh oh... I guess he wants to start stealing from fellow video game soundtracks... oooooo, burn!

Well, regardless, more rhythm games in general = me happy.

"...help PSP finally adopt the 'non-gaming gaming' reputation that DS has..."

I hope not. I like gaming, hence my preference for the 'sexy' PSP.

Good thing the press release conveniently left contact information at Rockstar Games.

ROCKSTAR GAMES
Devin Bennett, 212-334-6633
devin.bennett@rockstargames.com

Great choice for a video game music artist, Mr. Bennett. Make sure you keep your other compute rgame music assets locked during Timbaland's visits to your office.

I didn't know if many others would comment on how he ripped off music from some finnish kid. I guess that story spread better than I thought...

Bad move Rockstar!

Electronic stores tell Sony to start moving PSPs off the shelves in a good way or they'll stop ordering them, and the response has been to come up with (possible) colored PSPs and games like this? Beaterator sounds like a cross between a gizmo for cooking eggs and a title for touching yourself.

Pass. Big time.

Who is timbaland and why does he get paid to sample music? If I do it, I'm a thief. If they do it, they are rappers?

Matt B, sampling is not stealing, provided that you get permission from the artist you're sampling.

That's NORMALLY the case. However, in the case the comments are referring to, he didn't get permission and still basically copied the song into Nelly Furtado's song "Do It" as is, without modification.

That's why Timbaland is a thief. Not because he samples, but because, IN THIS CASE, he sampled without permission.

It's a copyright violation, but since the original artist isn't paying protection money to RIAA (and Timbaland is), Timbaland has, so far, gotten away with it.

"Beaterator: Timba-Land Stories" isn't exactly the megaton announcement PSP owners seem to be waiting for" I would guess that yesterdays announcement of a non port God of War for the PSP was pretty megaton, but hell, I'd hate for Joystiq to miss a chance to bash a sony product.

While that's great news for current owners, I don't see it as "megaton." If it will bring buyers to the PSP in droves, then it's megaton. That title will sell well, but it won't save the PSP single-handedly.

Don't be dumb CowboyGA. The PSP does not need saving. It is doing great, it has hundreds of great games and millions of users.

Any game for PSP is better than no game for PSP. Will it be worth buying? if it's anything like Konami does, you bet. If it is just a silly try from Rockstar to keep "streetcred" it might fail. And the PSP is barely selling for emulators not for the UMD games.

This kind of music, I think, is better tailored to rhythm games. More beats and patterns over more 'technical' music.

I just hope 'Acidjazzed Evening' or a remix thereof is included, either from the outset or as a bonus track.

Could this be one of the worst titles for a game in recent memory? It's definitely a contender...here's hoping the genius behind the name doesn't have anything to do with the development

About sampling:

Just rout your headphone output right into your Microphone input, and use a sound recording program

Windows never recognizes it as a feedback loop, and the world is happy (no digital trail)

About Game: meh, looks to me like RockStar is just tapping into the whole "Hip Hop" craze, but then again i beleive the same thing of the whole Def Jam series...

Well its mostly white males age 16 - 25 keeping this "hip hop" craze going, as most rap music sales come from this demographic and many of these same people attempt to emulate the "hip hop craze" and "black culture". Ever seen the White Rapper Show? How lame was that? I wonder what is the fascination white guys have with the "thug" aspect of rap. Why are so many white guys trying to wear grills, fitted caps, and Girbaud pants? Its really shameful, and too bad the music really isn't good anymore. Young Jeezy is a joke....and so was Def Jam. But like I said its that demographic that keeps buying into that shitty ass music. I guess until people start investing into some real Hip Hop, Hip Hop will be dead. And Timbaland is straight fire, he rarely samples.

Beaterator is a quite bad title name, Grand Theft Audio would be a more fitting name since Timbaland and Rockstar has teamed up.
