Well, what could we possibly have expected? Just look at sites like GameFAQs. Some of the reviews and whatnot are nearly impossible to read. They should appoint people who specialize in any given aspect of gaming (requiring examples of their work beforehand) in order to control the quality of the overall site. Otherwise, this thing is just going to turn into a collection of fanboyism and rants.

I love Calvin & Hobbes!

It's great because the older I get, the more and more I appreciate the humor.
There aren't many things in life like that, IMO.

I also have an autographed Calvin & Hobbes book. Yay me!

This is probably one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Wiki + Dig + gaming mag? Did the world really need this?

Oh, and reading through just a handful of stories on this site tells me I'll be in for analysis about as insightful as the crap I see on RetroJunk.com

Ugh.

Maybe I'll write another nice, big, long rant about why I hate Sony that's filled with curse words for them, though.

Well, despite the flame-fest topics and occasionally rotten grammar at Joystiq, Gaming.Wikia makes it look like the New York Times.

After only 30 seconds of reading articles at Wikia, I could hardly stand it. People just see places like that as a soapbox to rant about their idiotic views on which console is better - not a place where someone with any real skill could actually establish themselves among the rest of the gaming blog scene. It's pretty pathetic.

Ultimately, it will turn into the posts that following the actual Joystiq blogs. Imagine the hate-filled gramatical horror that teenagers post in Joystiq's PS3 blogs - now you have an unregulated site called games.wikia.

Why not just use www.redassedbaboon.com . It's an actual review site where people can write their own reviews about games n gadgets.. This isn't a new concept.

I went there, saw the 10 biggest Nintendo mysteries and laughed my ass off when one of them was "Will we ever get the triforce in Ocarina of Time?"

Did he not notice the huge cut-scen where everyone held up their hands and said "It was me! I was the Triforce of Wisdom/Courage/Strength the entire time!"

Joystiq, you're just jealous of a younger and hotter website with a looser moral code. I'm sorry, but I'm just a reader. I have.. urges.. to read.. more than just one website! I hope we can still be friends...

OMG, that idiot posted his setup over there. Joystiq, shame on your for totally destroying that website, it won't be anything but fanboy flamewars for the rest of eternity now.

Man, I love Calvin and Hobbes. I have every single book in the collection (soft cover except for the 3 book hard cover set)

Every time I re-read a book of Calvin and Hobbes, I get more out of it, no matter how many times I read it.

@ Calvin & Hobbes enthusiasts

I'm with you all, its the same here, too, as i get older, i get different significance out of them (I read the comic avidly in its last years when i was 6, 95-96, then collected all the collections and reread them at the beginning of every summer)

Bill Watterson does need to bring back C&H. Life hasn't been the same since they sledded off into the sunset.

A gaming site that can be written by fanboys and other idiots. Yeah I can only see a few billion ways that why that won't work!

There's a good foreword on why Bill Watterson stopped making Calvin & Hobbes in the very last anthology book. Basically there was too much pressure on him to commercialize his characters and turn them into the next Garfield.. animated cartoons, window plushies, etc.
He really felt this would destroy the integrity of his comic strip, and it would have.. every time I see one of those car window stickers, I die a little inside.

Goldspire hit it on the mark as to why Calvin and Hobbes isn't around anymore, its a crying shame!

Anyway, I went over to the Gaming Mag and posted a few comments, and an opinion.

Its easy to use, but I think its incomplete. There is no "site" to bookmak where you can visit other mags like politics, entertainment, etc.

So, if you register for it...surely...there is more to come.

I have always liked Wikia, but that's just me. I hope this is successful.
