I just want to know how it can have a happy ending. I mean, the entire saga takes place inside of the mind of someone on their deathbed. I want this game desperately though... I just don't want another tearjerker ending like FFX.

Wow. If this game were coming out on the PS3, I think I would probably buy one for this game alone. I kind of hope it goes multiplatform. More people should have the chance to play it, if everything I've seen and heard of it is any indication. As it is, I hope it makes the 360 this year.

Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey all in one year? WOW that's a lot of RPG goodness. Reminds me of the good Saturn RPG years. With FFXIII on the way this will definitely be a good couple of years for JRPG fans!

Jared, would you say it stuck with standard JRPG conventions for the story, or did it go in a new direction?

I might be going out on a limb here beyond the other praises people are singing for this game but even without playing it I really get the feeling that this is the kind of game that this generation will thrive on. This genre with this style and the amount of quality that this game is just oozing with is really what this generation is all about.

Nope. I grew up with intellivision, atari, nes, snes.....ect. At this point an time I find the 360 a very enjoyable console. My views and opinions change from gen to gen. The SNES use to be my fav then it was the 64 then dreamcast.

Tri-Crescendo knows exactly how to make a great game.

Tales of Symphonia (if I'm correct) was made by them. And that game was amazing.

I'll be picking this game up. Thanks!

howso? he can be an 80 year old man, doesn't mean he cant think xbox 360 is his favorite system. There are a lot of late 20's-early 30's people I know that think PS1 or PS2 are the greatest system ever.

(good lord, I'm actually defending Jack Of All Trades)

#11 - They didn't let us see much of the story, but I got the feeling that it wasn't your standard "OMG SAVE THE WORLD!" plot. I mean, I think we all know what happens at the end of this one (sup Titanic), but how we get there will be very interesting.

On a side note, I really can't stand JRPG's, but I'm totally in love with Eternal Sonata. It feels like an action game and it's charming in the same way that forced me to like Dragon Quest VIII, despite being the most archaic style of game.

The 360 is the best console I've owned so far, and I started with Atari-something (really young). Had NES, SNES, SEGA, N64, DC, PS1, PS2, GCN, PC (sorta), and now a 360.

It is a solid system with great games and graphics that fit nicely with my tastes. It also does a lot of extra stuff none of my previous consoles would do. And Live really improves the experience for me. Basically it is the extra stuff and online multiplayer that puts it over the top. I'd still give the games/year edge to the PS2.

And I just defended JackOAT by giving my own opinion. Well, he has been pretty good lately, though.

i am almost 30 to help yall out

and i canlt believ ei let this game slip my radar. oh my 360 is killing me. so many games so little time.

and no this game will not be on the ps3. its one of those xbox 360 paid for exclusives. they are not publishing it but its got the stamp. doubt it will see the light of day on a ps3.

Exclusives are no longer a sure thing unless the companies themselves finance the project. Let's just put it this way, Mistwalker has recently given opinions on PS3 as a development environment...

Likewise, SE has said they don't want any one console to be a dominant platform...

Since this game hasn't been financed by Microsoft, it could end up on PS3. However, it will be a very long way off. So 360 fans, prepare to pay. If they see enough sales, they won't need to go multiplatform.

I have to go on a little rant here. I'm tired of seeing rpg games where the battle field is a completely flat surface. It just looks so unnatural. Even if the game has random encounters it would be nice if the surface had some bumps here and there instead of just a flat plane with some grass or whatever texture slapped onto it. Apart from that, it looks like a great game.

The Wii may be getting all the attention but the Xbox 360 is where its at: a lot of great games are coming out or already out that stretch the many genres of gaming, XBLA is on fire, and now we're about to experience a downpour of good Japanese RPGs. Sadly I bet they(the Japanese) still won't be convinced to buy more 360s. They'll make up an excuse like "It doesn't have Super Hentai Master or Brain Training or Cooking Mama, its too big, and it smells like an American!"

I also forgot to say that the Halo 3 Beta is sometime during the spring/summer months and that Live Anywhere integration between PC gamers and Xbox gamers will begin in May. Xbox 360 is a beast. Now let's just hope for a price drop this summer . . .

Damn, I agree with Crono and JA. This might make me have to shell out for a 360 finally. Ergh! But better 300 or whatever (I'm going to wait for a price drop) than 600 at least. F that.

What makes this game also very intersting is that Chopin's pieces will be performed by Stanilav Bunin (http://www.bearton.pl/bunin_en.htm). He is a magnificent piano player.

I have to admit, it seems like there are some really cool RPGs coming for the 360. Blue Dragon, this, and Mass Effect may make me give in and buy one finally.

However, you have to admit that the Xbox's track record is not so sporty, and they're STILL doing miserably in Japan, which does not bode well for future RPG support. I think they're testing the waters a little bit. Unfortunately, the overpriced machine that is a PS3 will still likely receive the majority of JRPGs.

The Wii, right now, is a tossup. I wanna see some good RPGs, but the Gamecube wasn't exactly an RPG powerhouse either (although Paper Mario, Baten Kaitos, and Tales of Symphonia helped it a LOT).

As for the best consoles, I think I'm going to say SNES and PS1. That was probably the best era for RPGs. The earlier Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger, Valkyrie Profile, Breath of Fire, and scores of other great RPGs were released in this period.

Sarge out.

Man, how in the HELL did I miss this? I got myself a 360 last Christmas because there was a good sale ($100 off at Micro Center + $100 cash-back worth of credit-card "points"). I knew I would get one this year between Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, and Bioshock. But this is the first I've heard of Eternal Sonata. It's going on my "buy" list immediately. Man, I'm going to be *busy*.

On the subject of relative console merits: I want the Wii to be my favorite, but frankly I've barely used it since finishing Zelda in mid-December. I got Rayman because I was desperate for *something* to play, but it's... well, meh. Super Paper Mario can't come soon enough. Until then, the 360 has been seeing most of my time.
