I guess it is only fair to give the Europeans a chance to buy the PS3 and make money off of eBay.

There's no need. Only the United States launch was violent. You didn't see this violence at any of the other PS3 launches in Japan or Canada.

We all know the Brits are much more civil than the Americans.

XBOT:

How can this be? The PS3? Actually selling? How can this be? I can't believe this. Why would they need riot cops? It's not like it's the 360 or anything. It doesn't have Halo or Gears. I just don't understand.

I hope Europe's ps3 launch doesn't go as bad as our launch.

If there's more than 100 people at this launch, I'd be surprised. Sony once again not realising how despised their brand is in Europe at the moment. Then again, they never were... I mean they think we love expensive versions over cheaper versions, think we don't mind waiting and we're all cool with the fact they've removed backwards compatability from our units without even the hint of a price drop at launch. Their PR dept must be in the clouds.

Sony sure did a great job declaring the low priority and low importance of Europe when it came to launching the PS3.

Before I buy one I'll wait for some feedback on the 1.6 firmware. If everything goes smooth and there's no last minute hesitations, you can add one more to the PS3 userbase count :)

There is no Pro Evolution of FIFA or any other "football" game on PS3 at launch. There will be no violence as the queues(lines) will be very short. Anyone who would line up would just pre-order, which is still available everywhere a week before the launch. London police are just power tripping.

Oh right, more civil, i forgot.

I really have to agree that Sony could not have put Europe at any lower priority, or maybe they were just being nice and trying to hold out on them until something good came out. but if thats the case, why now? lol

@Emotep

"We all know the Brits are much more civil than the Americans."

Tell that to the fine people of India, Africa and Ireland. Too name a few. Memory is obviously not one of your fortes, too bad you can't escape history. Mass slaughter might be civilized in your opinion, but that doesn't change the way the rest of the world interprets the history.

Before you go off half-cocked, I'm not making comparisons as to who is more civilized than anybody else, that's your thing. I'm merely pointing out that historically, Brits haven't behaved in a more civilized way than anybody else.

I know that history doesn't repeat itself exactly like it did before.

I have 4 friends who all bought ps2 (and other people i know) and this gen 2 of them have 360, and 2 haven't bought anything yet, but none want a ps3 apparently.

I have a wii and friends are taking more interest in it than they ever did with the gamecube, so maybe one will end up getting wii as a 2nd console.

I'm predicting there will be more cops than shoppers outside the Megastore at midnight.

Whatever jokes you want to make about the Brits, they are not retarded. The jig is up, and everybody has figured out that the PS3 is currently very overpriced, especially in the UK.

If you think you can bring civilization to the heart of dark Africa and Asia and those savages on that little crap of land called Ireland without stepping on a few toes along the way then have at it. Jolly Old England has naught to be ashamed of you stupid upstart Yank, now piss off!

Hahaha hater, I dont agree with imotep either(or summercamp, any is fine, really). But using history as a reference for someones country now is kind of weak. Spain killed of the mayans, americans killed indians (and each other), brits fought spains...
Really, dont fall back on history to tell you who is 'the good' and who is 'the bad'.

On topic: I don't think that people will react so violent over in europe. The main reason there was some violence, was because people thought they could sell it for a high price at ebay, and go unnoticed doing so. This situation doesn't exist anymore, so violence should drop.

Frank: You still use the word XBOT? I always laugh when I see that. Is that the best you Sony lamers can think of?? LOL Maybe we need to come up with some better terms for Xbox Fanboys so you can copy it, which is Sony's mantre.

I think there will be lines for the PS3 because that's when the diehard fans pick it up. We had lines here too(USA), it's just a couple weeks later that you see them piled on the floor because the rest of the population isn't biting. Who want's to spend that kind of money for an oversized Blu-Ray player that might get some decent games a year from now? That's not a XBOT(LOL) comment that's just the truth.

lol at the people who think there will only be 100 people on line may I remind you that the PS3 is the most pre-ordered console in Europe since the beginning of gaming? outdoing Wii and 360 by miles umm I guess the Xbots must have forgotten that part what a surprise

I thought that I said not to go off all half-cocked, not that you're being half-cocked. I don't deny that the world is an uncivilized place in general. I just thought that it needed to be put into perspective that the country Emotep was claiming was "more civilized" has a history of being quite uncivilized too.

If you're a Brit, why do you spell civilization with a z? By the way, thanks for calling other cultures uncivilized because they didn't conform to yours. I'm sorry, we should have accepted oppression more willingly.

On-topic: I don't think this is necessary. There's definitely not going to be as much demand in Europe as in the U.S. Probably gonna have more police than people buying the PS3 as someone already mentioned.

We weren't this bad in the past. We really became killers only when the Bush Crime Family spread their tentacles across our nation in 1980 when Reagan took over. Then Poppy Bush came along with his Merry Band of thugs and killers to rape and pillage South America.

This is especially evident on XBOX LIVE....where in all my experiences...its always the Brits allying up with American Players vs German & French.

Coincidence?? I think not
