DS Daily: We just want to talk about Jam Sessions some more

As if you have to ask. Of course we love "non-games". Ubisoft is realizing that Nintendo platforms are a safe bet. Though they should reconsider shovelware...

I'm having a very hard time resisting buying this as an import... I know that Ubi's version has added the ability to 'save/record' the riff or song that you're working on, definitely worth waiting for... But if I see the original 'M-06' in front of me or if a friend is in Japan the next week or three, I'm putting my money down. Then I'll likely buy it again when it's domestic.

Though I'm not going to get my hopes up, I hope they keep the Japanese box art, it's so great.

Ive played the import and only played it for a day or two. I play guitar and its fun and all but its pretty limiting and is really only good for some basic acoustic songs (from what i tried).

Maybe a localized version with songs i actually recognize would be better but personally i am not as excited as i was when i first saw the videos for the Japanese version.

What i would be more excited about would be a localized version of Daigasso! Band Brothers or 'Jam with the Band' or whatever they call it. I have also played the Japanese import of it and its fun but i only really recognize the video game track (love playing the pokemon track.. even though i am not really into Pokemon) The midi instruments in Daigasso can get annoying but its still a fun game. Now if they could include some better samples maybe in exchange for the variety of instruments...

I play real guitar and enjoy rhythm/music based games (and non-games) in general. I'm excited about the domestic version of this game, especially with songs I hopefully will recognize. I obtained the imported game and it's pretty neat. Unfortunately I don't have a grasp on Japanese so some options and menus elude my understanding. Fortunately, my girlfriend knows Japanese a bit so hopefully she can help translate. :) I have figured out how to change which chords I want to display and the other basics. I still haven't played it enough to figure out how to play along with any of the songs though.

One thing that bothers me about this 'non-game' is that with my DS Lite is the D-pad. I didn't notice how inaccurate it was until I started playing with this game. Well it feels 'mushy' or something. Whatever the case, I don't really like my D-pad. Yes you can change chords with the buttons but then you either have to be left handed or hold the DS all weird.

I have a question for those that have played it as an import. Is there a way to play it left handed? I've been practicing the movements that i saw on the videos of people playing the non-game, and as a lefty, would be at a huge disadvantage. Perhaps you one can use XYBA as the D-Pad and strum with the left hand?

If anyone has any info, please post!

Dude, you just posted a question I basically answered in my #5 post. :) Although it was hard to understand what the heck I was talking about.

So yeah you can change the option instead of the D-pad to change chords you use the four face buttons; X,Y,B, and A. You press each one of those and also combinations of each like XY, BA, XB, and YA for more chords so that you can strum with your left hand.

You can also change which direction the strum goes if you feel so inclined. The top half of the touch screen can be up UP and the bottom half DOWN; or vice versa.
