Now, it may not be Nights, but I'm willing to say that whatever the mag has in store ISN'T an April fools joke. Seriously guys, you really think a magazine is going to plug an April fool's joke ahead of time? If that were the case, we would have been hearing "rumors" about Mushroom Kingdom Hearts about a month and a half ago.

What about that rumor, yesterday, about Saturn Games appearing on the VC?

I don't think we'll se a sequel, but I think NiGHTS will be the fist Saturn game announced for the VC.

C'mon Nintendo/Sega. Make it happen. Give us something to look forward to besides vague release dates and random speculation.

I do hope NiGHTS makes a return on the Wii. I couldnt think of a more suitable console to bring it back on.

Anyway, I think it's also odd that they previewed it already. If it were a joke, would they have made it seem like such a big article?

I can't wait to find out, but I'm hoping its true.

I'm not a believer.

The Wii hardware isn't anything remotely like the Saturns hence NiGHTS would have to be emulated. Saturn emulation is notoriously difficult due to the variety of different processors that have to be run simultaenously and the whole shebang being kept in sync. Current Saturn emulation (which has been in development for several years) requires a pc with a 2Ghz+ (ideally dual-core) proc and a quite beefy graphics card in order to play even remotely at the original speed. Unless Nintendo have some serious development time devoted to Saturn emulation (which while not completely insane, is still _pretty_ insane) i really can't see NiGHTS coming to the Wii. The size of the game (around 500mb including music) which can no doubt be compressed would still be a hefty chunk of anyones 512mb space.

I'm personally of the opinion that it's just gonna be a Mario Galaxy preview and not anything NiGHTS related. I'm pretty sure this rumour mill is going to be great for ONM's circulation next month anyhow.

So...no one is going to bring up the fact that another magazine owned by the same company (that owns ONM) is hyping up the same exact thing, and declaring it a Wii game (as opposed to a Virtual Console game). I guess I will then.

#1 and #4: Thinking the exact same thing. Unless they wanted to make it look REALLY real, they just wouldn't have previews about it. Well, maybe they would. They probably enjoy selling magazines for money, and, as Aza said, will definitely see an increase in sales.

#3: Aza, you clearly misunderstand: all VC games are emulated. Also, 'current Saturn emulation' is done by hackers, where as an actual VC emulator would be made, at worst, by Nintendo and, at best, by Sega (thoese aer teh guyz that mayd teh consloe LOL!). But I agree: Saturn on the VC would be difficult to do in the current form. That's why this seems to be an entirely new game designed for the Wii.

And #6: I thought about mentioning it, but I didn't know what it really did. Does that make it less credible, or more? I find it hard to believe that the magazines would cooperate and make an April Fool's joke about the same thing...

Agreed. I'd say it makes it slightly more credible, if only for that very reason. Not only that, but one is supposed to be considered a "May Edition", despite the fact that it will likely release in April.

2 magazines, two starry skies, one is April, the other is May. If this is a tag team joke, it's quite possibly the dumbest thing they could do. The joke is only funny once. We don't need another magazine using the same exact one a month later.

If it is NiGHTS, I can't see it being an April Fool's Joke. Nintendo can't possibly be in on this with SEGA just for a joke, right? They're not that friendly yet.

However, if you looked at the other one, it has a planet (I'm guessing Earth) in the picture. This picture has a few unmarked stars if you notice, so it could be something else, if anything at all.

I've never played the game "Nights Into Dreams", so I don't have an opinion on it, but it seems possible. I would guess Mario Galaxy or Star Fox, but the text that goes along with the image seems to point elsewhere.

"World Exclusive! Step back in time as a classic game makes a long overdue return."

Next-Gen-Gamer,

What is the other magazine that has the same starry sky?

I'm a little confuzzled as to which has what, but I believe the two magazines in question are the Official Nintendo Magazine and NGamer.

Sega's site had a poll on which classic game people would like to be brought back? And wasn't NiGHTs winning? I don't see this being too far out there.

Um, Nintendo and Sega have been very friendly. Sega was one of the partners that joined Nintendo in making the Triforce arcade board (the other being Namco). Sega has even worked with Nintendo properties (F-ZERO GX/AZ was made byt Sega/Amusement Vision).

Sega has strongly supported GameCube, Game Boy Advance, DS, and now Wii. Granted, not all of their titles have been real winners [coughshadowcough], but they are definitely a very close developer to Nintendo.

ONM is probably full of shit. This whole star outline thing is even more vague than that RE silhouette... and that turned out to be complete bullshit.

If it's not an April Fools joke then it's NiGHTS. The logo fits perfectly, I just really hope this isnt a joke because I'm honestly really excited and if they fuck me over I might burn NP to the ground.

Nights sucked.

As time goes by, I'm beginning to realize that Sega Fans are just kids that wish they had SNES instead of Genesis, but are too proud to admit it.

Nights at the time looked better than some Nintendo 64 games and til this day it still looks good. A lot of us got a glimpse of what Nights could have looked like on Dreamcast during the Pinball Minigame in Sonic Adventure. With that said I'd rather see a true Nights successor done on a true next gen platform. High quality graphics, amazing soundtrack, tight controls, and crisp gameplay without motion controls.

It's amazing. One article says "quit sending this in. It is completely unfounded bullshit during shenaninigans era" and people keep sending it in.

They put up a second article, reconfirming the history this mag has of bullshit and the time of the year it is telling people to be cautious about putting too much faith in this and once again, the fans are talking about how believable this is.

Look, distance yourself from this for the sake of your own mental anguish. If it turns out to be true, hip, hip, hoor-fucking-ay. If not, you're setting yourself up for a fall of Megaton proportions.

Well, OMN has confirmed that it is *not* an April Fools' Joke.

http://gonintendo.com/?p=14741/

So basically, next month they'll be unveiling a new game, which will be a return of a classic franchise.
