Howling Rayman Raving Rabbids cake
Other games blogs may have recently sworn off games cakes, but here at Joystiq this still looks delicious. Then again, this blogger does have a soft spot for vanilla icing. We're not sure where the floating head of a Rayman Raving Rabbids bunny fits into the culture of edible fandom, but can't you just hear him singing his off-key Christmas carol, begging to be smacked across the face?Actually, this bunny has his own Flickr set. See how he emerged from box art, to tin foil hunk, to tasty, screaming glory.
Thanks, Jason!

Wow, another badly done video game cake. I can understand posting the really good ones (http://www.flickr.com/photos/alttext/sets/72157594289496628/) but this thing is a poorly done piece of crap.
Not news.

Hey chris we'll be waiting for a post of your "better" rabbid cake....
Jason @ Mar 18th 2007 2:58PM
Hey Chris,
Rabbid cake maker here. Yes, there are better cakes out there. I've seen what it takes to make such cakes, but I don't have the experience nor the equipment to pull that off.
A couple of things you might find interesting:
- The pan I used had to be made out of aluminum foil, which was somewhat difficult to bake in
- I got the idea the night before the birthday, which effectively gave me a few hours from prep to delivery
- This was my first time ever baking and frosting a cake
I wish I had the time and materials to even begin to attempt the type of cake you linked to. Until then, this is what I've made -- and quite frankly, for my first time out, I'm damn proud of it.

So all you have to do to get a news story dedicated to you is make an ugly but edible videogame-related confection... great. That thing is, well, hideous. But I guess that's to be expected considering the host material.

wow what a bunch of jackasses. if u dont like the post and dont think it's newsworthy just skip it and quit bitching or find something else to do.

i wonder which cake tastes better, while the cake that chris linked is impressive it looks like its made out of wax upon wax i'm sure its edible but it doesn't look that tastey where as the rabbid cake looks like a cake should, cake like, and it looks like it has cake taste too

Hey Cake Guy. I have no qualms about you, or your cake. You made a cake for a friend. Props. My qualms are with Joystiq posting something like this as another uninteresting space filler.
I'm sure you're excited that your cake is on some site. But do you really think it's newsworthy material? You admit yourself that your attempt is not anything incredibly spectacular. People bake cakes all the time.
I can't believe I'm trying to create rational points. Here we go - Cakes are not news. Cakes are especially not gaming news. If cakes are going to be special interest fluff gaming news then they should at least be interesting.
Sorry, just saw this news item and groaned.

A freakin cake?? You've gotta be kidding me....A stupid, poorly made excuse for a cake and cake pan passes for video game news? What next?? "Oh hey look, my poop looks like the triforce, here's a picture!"
Whats the headline on that "News" story going to be...Poop-force?? Tri-poop??? Zelda, the poop taker?
Joystiq is really digging for bones now...

[ahem]
This is a blog. Not a news site. They can post about ANYTHING video game related. Not just the ZOMG nüz.

@7:
Your post basically amounts to "HAY GUYZ DON'T EVER CRITICIZE ANYTHING OK??????" Great logic. I'll comment with whatever I want, thanks.
And even though joystiq is a blog, this isn't even blog-worthy. It's just a freaking ugly cake that looks like it took about 15 minutes to make.
