Just when we thought we couldn't take it anymore .. the thought that the $130 Legendary Edition of Halo 3, -- in addition to being priced competitively with a real suit of MJOLNIR armor -- wouldn't include some content found on the cheaper (albeit still expensive) begins-with-an-ell Limited Edition was enough to make us throw our body off the nearest precipice and watch real life's rag-doll physics engine at work. Thankfully, Bungie's Frankie spotted us just in time and told us, in a calm, controlled, and possibly computerized, voice, "[you] will be pleased to know that [you] will not have to live without that content at all."
"Really?" I sniffled back, clearly eager for any excuse to step away from this impressively rendered ledge.
He nodded. "More on that later (some of the details are still being worked out), but it should be smiles and sunshine."
"You aren't just saying this because the inevitable negative press following our plummet would be crushing to the pre-blockbuster status of Halo 3? You're actually serious? Smiles and sunshine?"
"Seriously," Frankie said.
Phew. We're not sure what he means by any of this of course, we're just happy to hear that our little stunt didn't go unnoticed by the fatcats at Bungie Studios. So, is the Limited Edition's "fiction and art book" going to be included in the Legendary Edition? Maybe. We're gonna stay near the ledge just in case.

You should have a poll asking:
Do you care at all about the "world of Halo" and the campaign of the game, or do you just play multiplayer?
answer:
I LOVE Halo! I'm a big fan of Master Chief and I love the story / gameplay in campaign mode AS WELL AS the multiplayer.
I only play the multiplayer / couldn't care less about the campaign.
I'd choose the latter.

Im sorry but who in their right minds would buy a $130 game. I mean Halo is a good game but they are making it out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Its a game people, no game is worth that much money.

The only thing tugging me towards this is the art book. But I have a friend fanboyish enough to pay for this just for the helmet. So I'm going to chuck some cash his way (He wanted to pay $100 for it, so I'm chucking him $30 for the art book and the DVDs) and not have to buy the "uber edition."
Ironically enough, I'm spending $20+ in shipping alone for my LE Assassin's Creed copy for PS3 as well as $120 for DJ Max Portable 2 Orphues Black Edition from Play-Asia.

For a limited edition COLLECTORS EDITION, $130 is fine in my book. Can't wait to see what other goodies they pack in that box!

Come on, $130? That's taking advantage of it's fanbase right there. Sad thing is, people wont complain, instead they'll go "ZOMG KEWL" and be forever mindless because it's Halo. I don't dislike Halo, but I think I'll be picking up an ordinary copy of the game which is reasonably priced, thank you.

Everyone is the USA always cries when they release these $200-$300 special editions of Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, etc in Japan but not here. Now we're finally getting an uber-collector version of a game and everybody* is crying. Go figure.

$60 for Halo 3. Great deal for anyone that likes Halo.
$70 additional for art book, cat helmet, and dvd. A great deal only for those truly in love with the Halo universe, which is a pretty small minority. That, and rich people/spoiled brats to which the money is nothing.
Thread over.

I'm getting this. I enjoy the series and have a tendency to splurge on things like this. Mainly Japanese anime related. Finally something I could get into instead Lunar's limited edition that game with all that crap...

I really enjoy the Halo series, probably more than all other games out there. As such, I will be paying $59.99 for it. It is, after all, just a video game (and I don't have a cat to use the helmet).

Look. We're all forgetting the important question: Can you wear that helmet?

Metroid Prime....please?! Because lock on targeting, searching for all the weapons you seemingly lost from the previous game, fighting Space Pirates, and fighting your Evil Darker Self is so much cooler...

I think some people are forgetting the big picture here (because they didn't bother reading the actual press release).
The Halo 3 Legendary Edition is a limited COLLECTORS EDITION. Meaning that there won't be crap loads to go around. The Bungie.net weekly update states that these are individually numbered so if you think about it, $130 for a very limited and highly collectible edition of one of the biggest franchises in gaming history is not that much.

I got burned on both of the "collector's edition games" I ever bought, and they were only $10 more. 1 regular for me, please. I want something that fits in my DVD rack.

t3nguman,
It is actually more like $70 for it. $130 is for the whole set and $60 of it is for the game. I guess that it really depends on how many are actually made. If there aren't all that many, the item may retain or gain on its value in the collector's market, making it just as much an investment as anything else. Usually, though, they make so many of these "limited edition collector's" versions that they are never really worth anything.

@19,21 Yes it is clearly wearable. Compare a game disc give or take a 1/2" to an 1" more for the stand to your face. This should be wearable to most normal sized heads, but mine is huge from many "accidents" as a baby, and the real question is if youll be able to see through it. If you couldnt tell Im definetly buying the game for the helmet.

please you guys. anyone here who is about to make a comment like "halo sucks. $130 is a rippoff" or "such and such a game is better" please dont bother.
this is a collectors addition for the halo fans (myself being one) and thanks to capitalism no one can force you to buy it. so just shut up about all that please.
halo IS not a great game but a super duper awesome game IMO.
and its got all cutscenes from all 3 games in HD on a dvd. halo 2 by itself had over 2 hours of cutscenes. so combined the CSs are like 3 full movies. plus another disc of bonus content and a book. MC helmet plus im sure there are other goodies too. bungie is the most secretive studio out there. so for all that an extra $70 doesnt seem that bad.
if they made a mario one of these all u fanboys would cream your pants. dont deny it.
if you dont like it dont buy it. pretty simple.
p.s. metroid prime IS NOT a better game than halo.

Heck, I'll drop $130... when these things are long gone, they'll prolly fetch a good $200-$300 on eBay, knowing the fanbase.

If the Helmet was wearable the $130 would be worth it but I'm getting the $69.99 collecters edition not the $129.99 Ledgendary edition.
Bungie should milk the cash cow Halo is and with each sequel of Halo the should release a piece of wearable MC MJOLNIR armor.
