When Game Park, creators of the GP32, split into Game Park and Game Park Holdings we all knew it would be a fight to the death. The market for niche portable gaming handhelds built by South Korean companies with the words "game" and "park" in their title is only so large, y'know? Something had to give. About one year after we brought you news of Game Park's GP32 successors, the XGP and XGP Mini, and just six months after showing off their sure-to-be-a-hit XGP kids handheld, Game Park has filed for bankruptcy.
Want to check out what Game Park was all about at their official website? Too bad. It redirects to a shoe site now. The bloody Game Park console wars of 2006 are over; those of you who watched with eager anticipation, cheering on either Game Park or Game Park Holdings, can now begin the long and painful healing process. You can start by checking out Game Park Holding's GP2X: it's South Korean, has "game" and "park" in the title, and even has the letters X, G, and P in its handheld name. We think everything's gonna be okay after all ...

Don't give up hope, Game Park! The GBA outsold a 3.2 GHz console last month!

They almost had it but I heard it all came down to the investors being very disappointed with them at E3.
They did not even show a working model.

NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!
Gamepark is not necessarily dead, and the GPKiDS is still set for release. CEO of Gamepark just commented on GP32x (http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showtopic=35965&st=0&p=513336entry513336) stating:
"Gamepark is working with the Korea’s company (sorry I can’t mention the name of company) about Flash GUI solution on GP KiDS.
Besides that company want to be more powerful GP KiDS, he is under discuss with mobile flash contents development company in Europe and that is tail at the end.
We will pack the GP KiDS as junior PMP device.
You’ll see the GP KiDS movie and check the great change soon.

i used to have a gp32 and it was excellent.. though it was never a commercially viable mainstream product..
There were a few official games for purchase.. but no one ever did.. it was essentially an open source homebrew and emulation machine. ANd at that it was great.
I'd suspect that you can probably o everythign you could on a gp32 on a modded PSP.. but its standard resolution screen was a great advantage over homebrew on the DS..
My favorite game on it was Day f the Tentacle.. which looked and sounded great on a small screen.. and worked through scummVM. Shame it didn't have stylus control though.
I used to run Doom, NES, SNES, GBA and SCUMM games on it and it rocked. Plus it was sweet at playing videos (before the PSP came around).
