New Pokémon revealed, gotta catch 'em all ... ALL OF 'EM!
Ten years, numerous iterations, a global obsession that stretched as far as the small town of South Park, Colorado, and Pokémon shows no signs of stopping. Now the new Pokémon Diamond and Pearl creatures have been revealed to the faithful. With a total of 493 Pokémon, we yearn for the day Nintendo takes all their Pokémon money and genetically engineer little Bulbasaurs as office pets for us to water -- we'd ask for Pikachu, but we're sure they'd be sold to small villages as power generators. Actually, good question, with almost 500 Pokémon to choose from, which one would you want as a pet?

Missingno.

uh, Tyranitar anybody?
Joe @ Mar 20th 2007 2:01AM
I'm surprised how many of those Pokémon I recognized, despite only ever having played Red/Blue. They're making every single Pokémon into a series of between 2-4 evolutions. I think this ~500 number will scare off some of the potential Diamond/Pearl players looking for a good DS RPG. For instance, me.
Ryan @ Mar 20th 2007 2:01AM
lol I think its cute that there are comments here. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that loves Pokemon games, although for me they're more like a guilty pleasure. But to answer the question....
I'd pick a Mew also. Cutest damn thing ever. And after seeing Pokemon the 1st Movie oh hell yes I'd pick Mew.
religiousjedi @ Mar 20th 2007 2:10AM

Zatch @ Mar 20th 2007 2:23AM
I love charmander. I won't have to worry if I get lost in the middle of the woods in the middle of winter. He will make a nice bonfire.

I think a bulbasaur would be pretty friggin sweet.
rTwelve @ Mar 20th 2007 2:32AM
Probopass looks like a good paperweight.
Seriously, for a pet... probably the Glaceon. I've been waiting for a Ice-type that hasn't been Water, dumb-looking, or downright odd (I'm looking at you, Snorunt.)
jake b @ Mar 20th 2007 2:35AM
i never really new which edition to pick i kind of just picked one. any significant differences between the two or should i just flip a coin?
shadowchaoscontrol @ Mar 20th 2007 3:00AM
i'd love a legendary pokemon, especially palkia or dailga, controlling time & space
Zell @ Mar 20th 2007 4:18AM
Vulpix or Eevee.
Like the idea of a Bulbasaur on the desk though.
I've only bought and played three Pokemon games (Red, Blue, Fire Red) and I've never finished either. I think my interest goes when I realize I have a lot of leveling up to do in order to pass certain parts of the games. I'm sure I'll pick up Diamond or Pearl at some point. I must do what the voice tells me to.
How on earth do they keep coming up with more Pokemon?!
Elyscape @ Mar 20th 2007 4:31AM
Ditto.
Think about it. Suppose there's a hot girl you'd never have a chance with. PROBLEM SOLVED!

Blaziken would be awesome to roughhouse with.
Snorlax would be awesome to chill with.
Pikachu would be awesome as a tagalong.
Pidgeot or Crobat would be awesome if you wanted to travel somewheres.
Dave @ Mar 20th 2007 5:41AM
Psyduck. Special Power, a bit of a headache. I love that Pokemon.
juanotejano @ Mar 20th 2007 6:19AM
You know after I stopped playing these after gold/ silver I heard that all the new Pokemon in the new games were just terrible super japanified versions of older Pokemon with cuter faces and bigger eyes but this list doesn't look half bad. I may look into buying a ds for this if it gets the rave reviews expected from a Game boy Pokemon game.
juanotejano @ Mar 20th 2007 6:24AM
As a pet? Probably the one that looks like it doesn't eat very much and hopefully doesn't shit too much either. And something that could be easily flushed down a toilet if it became insolent.
BRiAN @ Mar 20th 2007 4:09PM
Goldeen.

I'm trying to get my head around why they bothered showing male and female pictures when they're all identical.

Of course, what the article doesn't mention is the *huge* controversy in the Pokémon fandom surrounding the revealing of these names. Fandom Wank (http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/1062843.html) had a field day with the fandom yet again.

I'd like to have all of them:
- with fried rice
- on a cheeseburger
- with fries
- in a stew
- as Pokebab
- on a stick
- with garlic and pasta
- grilled with spicy sauce

I'll pass.

I only played the first ones; Psyduck was my undisputed fave, so delightfully useless.
TaiZ @ Mar 21st 2007 8:30AM
I'd take either Eevee, Vulpix, Clefairy, Plusle/Minum combo, or Jigglypuff. I was always a big fan of them, and the ladies love cute things.

Celebi. Time travel FTW.

I would like a Meowth or a Skitty, both would be cool and having a talking cat would rock!

Out of all the Pokemon, I'd probably most like to have Bulbasaur as a pet.
