It's a few minutes past midnight in London and the PlayStation 3 has finally launched in the UK and the rest of Europe. Were you among the throbbing midnight masses? Were there even masses, throbbing or otherwise? Did you get a PS3? Did you stay at home in order to vote in online polls? How many more questions could we possibly ask? Two more? How about one more? Is this the last one?

Hey Europe, tell us about your PS3 launch!

I like all the people who aren't in Europe, yet are fanboys. 42 votes for "BS3". Of course, only Joystiq would put that as an option for a PS3 poll.

I think the general consensus of Joystiq readers is basically "me no likem PS3."

There's nothing wrong with the PS3, except for the lack of the games. That sounds familiar though, ever think of the PSP? DS? PS2? Wii? 360? It's launch, get over it. Games don't make themselves, if you're a real gamer you can wait for quality games to come out.

But that's not even saying that there aren't good games out right now. Resistance...Motorstorm...Oblivion...Homecourt...Virtua Fighter...

Not only that but I bet the people who did purchase one are at home playing with their new toy instead of being here.

Lmao, this is an American site, a majority of its visitors are from America, America being the biggest haters of the PS3, did you really expect to put that part of the poll there and not expect them to vote in it even if they aren't from Europe, to be honest, the mates happily at home playing thier PS3s have no idea about this blogging site, nore do they care about the people on it.

I am not out there getting mine yet as I am not a launch person, I'm quite happy to wait a few years, besides, I'm not a gaming nerd who must have the highest score, most games or cool graphics with 100 terraflops and all that crap. Give me a console with the games I like and I'll go with it.

Everyone has been talking about PS3 launch over here, the hype seems to have grown to peaks today, went to college, all I've heard about to the point its driving me mad is PS3. I'll be popping round some mates this weekend ^^

Joystiq puts those options so the fanboys don't fuck up the results of the others ones...

Um...you do realize if 360 and Wii fanboys show up to say BS3 then there should be a counterbalance of PS3 fanboys that vote I got a PS3. This is assuming the PS3 is supposed to be as popular as the other two combined.

can't help but notice, all the voting options are bad. if this was a poll of how Europeans felt about the ps3 launch then there would be a variety of options.
lets say someone experienced " oh the launch was great and i finally got one." are they supposed to pick the "My store was dead. I just waltzed in and bought one." or the "My hands are stained with blood, but I got a PS3!".?
it would help if all the options were not in fact negative. looking at this post, you would be led to believe it was not possible to have an enjoyable launch.

1. This is an American site, thus the domain .com rather then .co.uk, so a majority of Europeans won't know about this site at all.

2. Most fans of the console have gotten to the point where it is useless voting, as other people have more time on thier hands to probably sign onto different accounts or change thier IP just to ensure the negative option prevails.

3. Do you really think a happy PS3 launch buyer from UK would be found dead after getting thier new toy, arguing with people on Joystiq? Unlikely. Most likely they are already hooked up to Motorstorm or Resistance and well on thier way into the missions are still fiddling with the instruction manual. Don't forget we are 5 hours ahead of you lot. Its like 1 am over here, 1:20 to be precise. For a person who has just gotten thier new toy, and considering the launch was just over an hour ago, you won't find any PS3 buyer from the UK that happens to use this site on here, not at least until Sunday and maybe tomorrow if anyone is sad enough to come online to pick a fight. Tonight is pretty much the night of 360, Wii, PC and neautral people. Feels almost deserted as I say that..... :S

I'm a PS3 buyer from the UK and i'm online... (also an insomniac as well)

Ordered online so i'll be waiting for the courier.

Yes i know I'm an idiot for dropping so much cash on it but at the moment I can afford it. I already have a 360 and Wii and i'm sure the 360 will continue to take most of my gaming time. Foolish as it may sound, I'm rubbish with buying consoles, if i don't get them on launch when they are new and shiny then i rarely can be bothered at all.

Those two in the picture work there... I guess they are wondering if they get payed extra for night shift after this flop!

I just went to the biggest game shop within 50 miles...just to see what it was like..

DEAD! Loads of staff, loads of PS3s - and only me walking around the shop!! They kicked me out 10 mins later, cos the shop was paying 20 staff per hour while I was walking around! lmao

No 20GB models to be seen though, all 60GB models...

Wonder whats wrong? I knew it wasnt going to be great, but everyone within 50miles of me didnt want a PS3? Thats crap! :P

Might pop in tomorrow and see how many are left...lol

You're missing the point. US PS3 fanboys should be voting positives because the excuse is that US 360 and Wii fanboys are voting the negative. If the PS3 is worldwide more popular, the votes should cancel out.

Got My PS3 At Midnight, Quite a few people picked up system from store, It was a steady stream (about 50 people while I waited to pay in front of me).

People did't want to hang around but go home and play, so it gave the impression that many people didn't show up.

The PS3 was worth the wait, Simply the best Console I have ever owned, (NES, Neo Geo, Dreamcast, Camecube, PSP, DS, 360, Wii) also very cheap for what your getting. (Cheapest good quality Bluray Player sells for AU$1,500 and I think without Java support).

Graphics on HDMI properly set up creams anything 360 has to offer simply amazing stuff. (Demo of Grand Turismo HD is breathtaking)

It's also interesting that so many 360 and Wii Fanboys and hanging around PS3 posts instead of playing their system, their actions speak louder than their words.

HERE IS THE REASON WHY THE UK LAUNCH IS NOT LIKE THE US LAUNCH

its not xmas. here in the US, not only did gamers want to get the ps3, so did all the people who kids wanted a ps3, and would shoot someone just so they dont have to tell little bobby that there is no santa.

if they would put out the ps3 in november with the same #'s that they have now, everything would still have been apeshit in the US and UK....

At-least Australia kind of got an option. I mean, it's not like we're 8-10 hours ahead of Europe and as such had the midnight release before them.

I didn't get a PS3, but two friends did. They only want it for FFXIII and MGS4, though. Oh, and any possible Zone of the Enders games.

Meh. I only have enough money to own one console per generation. Though apparently I'm a fanboy because I'm poor. Funny old world, ain't it?

360 = Xbox Live!!

360 = No browser, you feel a little locked in. Gaming and Media. No Youtube! :(
Wii = Some games I like would play crap on it! (graphics and controler)

But overall, they are all consoles, they all have their kind of gamer! They will ALL do well!!

(i'm french)only wanted to say ...that few hours after the ps3 launch....we can say that sony failed(in france)...in the biggest hi fi shop "la fnac" on the champ elysée avenue....less than 100 ps3 sold....on the 2 thousand in stock for the launch...(and some people came to buy 360)

It just struck me...for all the talk of Japanese being xenophobic and not buying the 360...its probably the other way round. It seems like the Americans who cant accept that "their" company, the one that makes lovely alien shooting games, got whipped by the PS2 last time round.
