The EB Games in Rockhampton, uh... Australia (we don't know the provinces of down under, sorry!) has reported that the PS3 launch was an utter success. The store opened at 11PM last night, which made it the first store in Rockhampton to provide the console. How many people were waiting? Around 30. Might not sound like much, but when you realize that the console cost each Aussie AU$999.95, there was a lot of money going around in a couple of hours.Couple this with the rumor of PS3 allocations to Australia being as low as 11,000 units, the whole of the island continent may sell out of the PS3 this week. Surely there are 11,000 people willing to snag the system and get on board, Folding@Home, playing online, watching Blu-ray, etc? There's a lot of people joining the PlayStation 3 ranks, so, uh, good job on having a nice launch, Australia!
[Thanks, Alex!]
