You've got to admit your defeats as well as your successes. Stepping away from the Fanboy section of this website's title, we're going to go over what Sony planned in Paris, then what became of what would have been totally awesome if done in the United States.A midnight launch for the PlayStation 3 on a boat settled by the Eiffel Tower was planned in Paris, France. Awkward phrasing, but we'll go with it. There were approximately one thousand machines available there for sale, with music and cashiers and signs and stuff. You'd think that'd be a pretty attractive way to snag your Sony console, but you'd be wrong. Not a lot of people showed up. At all.
It is sort of hard to comprehend, especially when graced with pictures like the one we're using from JeuxFrance. A lot of their pictures are of the events before they were opened (we imagine) but... how strange, that there are pictures of people lined up, but then no one in the places they're lined up for.
So, perhaps the sales in Paris at midnight were not what Sony had anticipated, but as some of you commented with your PS3 stories, a lot of people ordered their system online, so there's no need to go out in the cold to such events. Give it a few weeks for the numbers to roll in and we'll see if the numbers reflect a no-show or the power of online buying.
