jetpac was never an arcade game, as far as I know. If it was, i'm certainly not aware of it.

It is, however, a classic C64 and Spectrum computer game.

Why no negative spin on this arcade release? Isn't it breaking the streak of A-list games?

Because unlike Gyruss, they actually seem to have put a lot of work into the re-release of this game. It actually looks like any Retro Remakes entry, if not a finalist, and they're only charging 400 for it. Obviously we haven't played it yet so we can't really comment, but it still seems like a pretty decent title compared to a lot of the crap we're given.

Say what you want about the game, but that's the best graphics update for a retro game on XBLA by far.

See what happened? See what you did? MS saw how many people would have enjoyed Gyruss (and how C. Grant was getting owned in the comments), so they had to dig up a release that WILL break the streak of good games.

The "we haven't played it yet" defense for this game is weak; it's Jetpac in a pretty coat of new paint, don't kid yourselves.

Gyruss kicked so much ass in the arcade back in the day, it was unreal. Even if it was an updated version of Tempest, it was probably Centuri's best arcade title. The sound effects and the soundtrack itself was grand. I loved that game. The Xbox controls would be perfect for the game too...same goes for Tempest. Hope you guys in the Xbox division at Microsoft are listening because if not, Sony and Nintendo could scoop ya.

Hey, how about adding the "Zoom" button option to the Pac-Man games? I have never seen a home version include the infamous (possibly unauthorized?) "Zoom" button on the arcade machines from back-in-the-day. Once you punched that button, it would speed up the game play by about 10x, which was quite a challenge zipping Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man through their mazes. Regardless, I'd finally like to see the option included.

Huh? Gyruss features enhanced graphics, co-op and versus multiplayer, etc. Please, before you open your yap, please know what the hell you're talking about.

I'm just at a loss, especially now that it looks like we actually have a pipeline, as to why MS feels like they can only release one game per week. I know they can't do the VC thing (which is closer to just turning on a switch and doing some tuning for Nintendo), but even so -- would it be such a terrible thing to get Jetpack *and* Gyruss some week? Catan and Eets?

TheJeremy, Tengen's version of Ms. Pac-Man (on NES, Genesis, and Super NES (released by Midway)) had a turbo boost. You could have it always off, always on, or switch in-game by pressing a button.

Not unlike Space Giraffe, perhaps? That one's expected to be gameplay complete as of end of March, according to a recent posting on Game Informer, yonder - http://www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/16B4AE3D-D867-4191-B917-7B5294D6FE24.htm from Jeff Minter's latest blog update.
