Mark, if you set your system clock to the 11th, you'll get a countdown timer of under one day - till midnihgt in fact. Any date after this you get positive counting and instead find that you get increasing time - you can check this by putting the system clock to 12th then the 13th. You'll go from +1 day to +2 days.
:)

cityofrhodes.org is also registered by Sony. And, the records were updated this month. I wouldn't be surprised if this site is part of the "secrets" as well.

actually, if you look even closer at the site, there are wheel tracks in the middle of the page… the Colossus in the city of rhodes was built to the god Helios (or Apollo, depending if you like the Greek or the Roman side), whose son, Phaeton, rode Helios’ Chariot (the sun) too close to the earth setting the Earth on fire, which makes a whole lota sense with all the flaming going on the site...
what strikes me as even more interesting is that Jupiter (or Zeus) strikes down the chariot making Phaeton fall to his dimise to the river Eridanos, which is a river in Hades!
mmm… guy riding a chariot, setting stuff on fire: that sounds to me like Kratos riding Gaia at the ending cutscene and the chariot in the website…

blown by Zeus to Hades, hint maybe?

this can lead to various possibilities:
1.- the first one has something to do with going back to the fight with Zeus on the island of rhodes… remember, Kratos can now control time… i’m guessing that the countdown may be for the publication of the actual game ending in a way?
2.- i’m suspecting that Zeus ultimately strikes down Kratos into Hades or, maybe, the other way around… let’s remember that we still don’t know who that grave digger was in God of War and combining that with the fact that Kratos can now handle time itself, maybe that is hinting that he, after gaining Zeus throne after the final battle, came back to help himself out… even more so if we add the hint of "remember the first game".
3.- There was also a hidden cut scene in the first God of War called “Birth of the Beast”, where it is revealed Kratos' brother died and fell to Hades and started to seek revenge upon Kratos for abandoning him. So, maybe they're hinting a 'brother reunion' in the final battle, with Zeus using Kratos’ brother to fight him during the battle (although this sounds as something more for the GoW III or later).

i'm pretty sure it's not for a movie, and i don’t think that there’s going to be a God of War III launch in the near future, it’s too soon. didn't it just come out a month ago?

the PS3 theory also sounds plausible, the PS2 logo maybe just there to throw people off... although... maybe they already have the 'complete' GoW II version (with the final battle/ending) but it's only going to be for the PS3 and want to use it as the bridge for PS2 owners to get a PS3? getting them hooked on the game, and making them buy a PS3 to see what happens next? sound reasonable...

i’m a conspiracy theorist at night, sorry =P

irony of it all: i have never played God of War or II, ja! i just love the plot so much!

So I hear you guys like mudkips...

On a more serious note. My video was great. As those who have tried it out a little for themselves now know..there is no hoax..only EPIC WIN. That 999,999 hits Prometheus' Inferno was my celebration for all the time I wasted. The method I used required about 11 hours of my time as the rubberband would slip sometimes and I someohow perma-killed one of my Titan Minotaurs in the Arena. I had three and got left with only 2. They all had attack and respawn on though it would be hard to tell since I hit them so often/fast that the circle would appear over their head quite often but never actually killed them unless the rubberband loosened and the cross-swipe ender killed them both.
~I just find it funny that this is just now being noticed by websites..I expected the internet to notice a bit sooner.

Ive been already searching for something that may be related to the name of this site "islandofrhodes", and seriously, i still dont have any clue. The caracther "Cratos" (it is read "Kratos" but the latinized word is Cratos) in the greek mithology doesnt have anything to do with Rhodes (yes i fights the collossus of Rhodes IN THE GAME, but that doesnt prove anything)

i sugeste that insted of just saying if it is legit or not, you should be asking yourselft what does it mean

Theories abound. That's the point...they want people talking. First, I'm guessing against the film. They've had the domaina while, and it would be hard to keep a project that huge out of the public for that long. Second, my first thought was that Sony bought a sponsorship in NASCAR and Kratos would be on the hood. But they wouldn't invest that much time into something that deep. Third, OF COURSE IT'S FOR HARCORE FANS, it takes a hardcore fan to dedicate that much time to a game with no promise of reward. Fourth, whatever it is, it's for PS2 (Breathes a sigh of relief). Every PSP game has the PSP logo. Same for PS2 and PS3. Get over it. Lastly...my personal opinion...it unlocks something from either game one or two. Perhaps a bonus level where you play as Kratos BEFORE he killed his family. But then, he wouldn't be wearing his God armor would he? My conclusion, it has something to do with the gap between 1 & 2.

Chances are, it's a countdown to an announcement. I figure this since the timer on the site is based on your computers internal clock.
