For every step forward Sony fans can take, rfom knocks us 30 feet backward.

Seriously. You CAN claim Sony helped develop Guitar Hero but that arguement only goes as far as Sony ponying up the money to help finance and publish Frequency and again with Amplitude. And hiring Harmonix to develop EyeToy: Antigrav.

And giving Sony credit for Suikoden and Kingdom Hearts? Dude, I just threw you three very unique games that WILL be PS3 exclusive, and you give Sony credit for Kingdom Hearts....

"now I would like to ask xbox fanboys what is a bigger exclusivity loss:

DMC4 or ES4:Oblivion... hmmm?"

you answered your own question 2 paragraphs later:

"360 came out earlier and now capcom is to lazy to port it over to PS3 because they know nobody will care a year later."

no one will care a year later. apply this to Oblivion and you have your answer

Also rfom-

"USD150 for Vista? USD 50 for multiplayer each year? USD 100 for a 60GB hard disc? God knows how much penny pinching that resulted in the most massive console defect rates ever?
Yeah, enjoy the free games"

Vista, Who's really upgrading to vista? I know I'm not, don't plan to for a couple years as a matter of fact so none of that is my money.

50 dollars a year for muliplayer? I have 38 dollars for 13 months, thats like buying half a value meal at a fast food restruant every month. Also we get free content, (texas hold'em, south park in HD, I got 3 free arcade games from microsoft, and at least it's a streamlined online system. Unlike something else I have experienced.)

WHEN DID WE GET A 60GB HARDDRIVE!? I'm pretty sure its a 120GB, twice as big as the ps3s when it comes out.

I have a console made 11-27-2005, no problems ever and will never have problems I have made sure of that with a nice little mod and I can tell you it runs cooler then a ps3 does,now.

Free games? wtf are you talking about? I think you might be on drugs, If not then man lay off the sony koolaid.

Suikoden - my error, possibly you are right

As you put it "Sony helped develop those games"
Just like M$ "helped develop" Gears (or would you say that MS doesnt deserve credit for Gears - probably only the second instance of a good MS-developed IP in SIX years, after Ninja Gaiden)

Why take Vista into discussion, when it has nothing to do with the Xbox 360's functionality? Oh noes 50 USD for the best online experience available :(:( come on. At least they aren't nickel & diming us for furniture in a Second Life ripoff filled with adverts. The only valid point you make is the failure rate, which is troublesome, and made me hold out till the rumored 65nm chip is introduced. Even if the 60GB PS3 was 500$, the Xbox 360 still has more value, unless you are into Blu-Ray.

@Jack of No Trades

//Your ignorant. It cost money to port a game to a system.//

It also costs money to make the game multiplatform in the first place whoop de do, the difference is that with porting a game, you can use the profits from the original game to fund the port.

Not true.

You need BD for future HD gaming. You can’t feet 17 gigs Motor storm on 8 gig DVD disk. And if you can, you will end up with 70% less of original content.

Some will happen with all future true HD games. MS get it, that’s why they on rush to “also” provide BD stand alone drive. A little bet too late for them.

You dizzy bitch, KH was a collaboration between Square and Disney. Where exactly does Sony factor in?

"Duh, derm.... umm, THEY MADE PSTOOOOOOOO! Woot! Honk!"

And to put it mildly, no. Microsoft does NOT deserve credit for Gears Of War and guess what? They don't get it either. Majority of the work for Gears was in establishing UE3 which, in case you missed it, is multiplatform. IF Microsoft paid for exclusive with the game, woot, honk! But in case you missed it, it wasn't Peter Moore or Bill Gates showing off Gears, it was Cliffy B. Cliffy B works at Epic. And to be quite brunt, PS3s installed base was far too small to support Gears, especially since UE3 licensed started happening AFTER Gears. Gears pretty much financed UE3.

And, incidently, Microsoft doesn't deserve credit for NG either. That was Itagaki and Team Ninja. And they do get the proper credit.

If you want to talk about Microsoft original IPs, let's talk Kingdom Under Fire, Quantum Redshift, Brute Force, Blinx, Sneakers, or even Whacked.

Damn, man. It pains me to know I own the same system as your ass. Actually, I own the same system as everyone... unless there's a fortunate Neo Geo MVS 6 slot owner out here. In which case, yo.. hooks me up.

Like I said at PS3Fanboy...I don't care for exclusives anymore. They end up forcing me to buy a console I may not even want (Read: I bought a PS3 and want FFXIII).

Money isn't the issue...the PS3 just feels like a practice in futility. I'm tired of having to turn on the controller several times in one session...tired of the disconnects...tired of having to plug in the controller just so it can do an update...tired of the impractical menus. It's not really a gaming machine. It's a gadget.

I'll buy the game that provides the most fun for the money. Since PSN is lame, I stick with 360 for online multiplatform titles. With offline titles, I've already built on my gamercard, so the PS3 doesn't have much right now. Sony's "home" may change that, but I have very low expectations.

I believe this is not entirely because of PS3's smaller userbase, or because of any exclusivity deals

Capcom said that the engine used for those games was not optimized for multiplatform use

the CELL is a beast to program for, like all ahead-of-their-time processors (like the Xbox CPU and the Saturn's), and the Wii's is unique, archaic (outdated), and is a non-integrated chipset

They don't think that the effort in rebuilding the game engine for other consoles is worth the admittedly smaller possibilities of return

@37 Jack of all Trades

how can you tell that I have no 360? you can look up my gamertag sirpilf. i use the same name for everything, xbox live, PS3 online, PS2 online, AIM etc etc.

the reason I see more games i want on PS3 is because right now i just see shooters for 360. Dead rising was great, gears of war was great, ghost recon aw was ok, but i am getting tired of shooters. im not a big halo fan. i WILL be getting ninja gaiden 2 for 360 and i wont careif its an exclusive for 360. because yea... i OWN ONE!

im a big 3rd person action game fan thats why i loved dead rising so much, gears was a little to much ofthe same stuff over and over but yes it was a very good game still. almost all the games i really look forward to are 3rd person action games like i just got god of war2 and its fantastic. i amlooking forward to heavenly sword and lair also. i know lair is more flight but its gonna be a lot of action.

right now for 360 i mainly just want lost planet (havent gotten it yet, low on cash god of war2 was priority) and really thats about it. i like crackdown but i dontthink i wanna pay $60 forit.

rfom,

just explain how Sony investing in studios and IP is any different from MS doing the same thing; and maybe, MAYBE, the entire joystiq readership, even the PS3 boosters, will all stop laughing at you.

@52 max boyer

you know what you are right, people wont care about oblvion as much now because its been out for a year. but comparing oblivion to lost planet is a big difference. personally i would rather play lost planet then oblivion but oblivion is a much more popular game.

when san andreas came out for xbox not that many people cared because it already came out for ps2 long time before, but people SURE as hell cared about san andreas a year later on xbox then they would have if it was a game like viewtiful joe when that was eventually ported to ps2.

@70 "those PS3 games are the equivalent of how MS publishes Gears of War and Halo 3."

Halo isn't just published by Microsoft, it's owned by Microsoft. MS bought Bungie in 2000.
