Here comes the, "Sony is copying Nintendo with point-and-shoot games". How would they do the whole gun thing? The old lightgun way, or sensors on top/below the TV? Here it goes again....

It isn't official until it becomes multiplatform PS360.

Do light-guns even work with high-definition televisions?

N didn't invent the HDTV gun technology. N copied it.

I'd be happy to purchase this game/gun combo. I've been missing gun games since HDTVs chased them away years ago.

Not standard light guns, no. Not unless its a tube, that is. Flat panels or rear projections don't work with light guns.

LS2/LS7, almost all of Nintendo's controller innovations are outsourced. The accelerometers are made by someone not nintendo, the pointer functionality is made by somebody else. But Nintendo brought it all together under one roof/controller. Thats the innovation. Everybody knows that the technology has been around forever, its the application that counts.

Hopefully this will pave the way for House of the Dead 4 and Silent Hill Arcade to be into a PS3 version.

Crono:
You think the combo is the key? The two barely relate, N just put them in the same controller.

Besides, N didn't even create new applications, there was a company showing golf and tennis (dedicated) games using motion sensing in Kentia Hall at E3 for 2 years before Wii came out.

N marketed it. That's mostly what they did.

Does it say anywhere in the link (or anywhere else) that THIS lightgun actually works with anything other than CRT? I would just assume is doesn't until we learn more.

There still aren't people thinking that the Wii Remote is point-and-shoot are there?

Where have these people been since E3 2006?

With sixaxis control, that actually sounds like a pretty f*cking sweet game.

Oh yea Sixaxis functions would be awesome. Like dive down the controller to take cover in game, then pop it back up to come out of cover to shoot perhaps, or even put aiming attached to the sixaxis as well somehow with like a cursor on screen?

Either way sounds good.

@JodyAnthony

Nah, Crono has been here for a while :) /zing I'm just playing. On the topic of light gun games, I would love it. I love light gun games, Area 51, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, etc etc. This is probably because I love arcades hehe. Bringing the light gun back to consoles in a big way would be teh awesome :) I look forward to further developments on this.

That reminds me... what can I do with all my old guncon's now that I have moved to HDTV. The old guncons also had a wire that had to go inline with the composite video signal so you couldn't even use it with svideo. They seemed to be very very accurate. Not sure how they will pull it off with an LCD HDTV. But I can't resist gun games. Will Point Blank be far behind?

This is great news! I love the old Time Crisis Series. Sega MUST bring Virtua Cop to PS3 as well(make a complete new version). I think they must have to use the six axis sensing tech to control the cursor. HDTV's wont work in the old fashioned way. maybe its going to be a case of This wont work on CRT, rather than this wont work on HDTV.

This would be awesome I've wanted a Light gun game ever since I had my old 57" CRT HDTV a couple years back. Unfortunately there was some warning on these games that said it wasnt compatible with rear projection Tv's. :( I'm pretty sure they've fix that since then and my new 60" SXRD should be able to work with it, I hope. I think that Large Widescreen Tv's are just begging for a good old Arcade style lightgun shooter. I hope they make more of these games like HOD4, Vampire Night, Leathal Enforcers and Area 51. Actually HOD4 was in widescreen on a 62 incher!!!
That'd be sick
