The Queen's subjects enjoy their 3 million DSs
In subtle retaliation to Sony's announcement of 165,000 PS3 units sold during their UK launch, Nintendo sent out a little press release casually mentioning that 3 million citizens of the UK have a Nintendo DS. Nintendo says the DS was the best-selling console in 2006 and is on the same track for 2007.Comparing the PS3 launch to the Wii launch does show that the PS3 bested the Wii by 60,000 units. During the Wii's launch week where it sold 105,000 units, the DS whistled along selling 110,000 units. Whatever is going on with the big boys, the DS can sit in the corner and smile at them all. She may be petite, but that queen is already the king.

I don't know what we should start to expect more: Fanboys or people cuing fanboys.

No thanks. Leave the flame wars to Sheppy & Jack. I'll pass on this one.

@ 3
Whatever, as long as we avoid the hourly flamewar from the mentioning of a Sony and Nintendo product in the same post...

Uh, an item that costs 129.99 is always going to sell more than something that costs at least five hundred. Thats like gloating that mazda sells more mazda3's than Lamborghini sells Murcielago's.

@Brandon Konran
If we were doing car analogies then the PS3 would be the Bugatti Veyron. Not only does it sell less than a Mazda 3 but they are also losing money for each one sold. ;)

What a great Lady!

I'm really getting tired of Nintendo's press releases about total sales.
We get it, we get it. Nintendo rules #1. Okay.
Now, make press releases about stuff people will actually care about, like there being more systems produced, and new, big-name games on the way.

As one of these UK DS owners, I find it odd that I have only ever seen one other DS ever being used in public, whereas I've seen at least three PSPs. Strange.

The DS isn't a console.....
:confused;

Apples and oranges, sticks and stones. The DS is a pocket lint covered pseudo caramel in contrast to the candy land that is the PS3.
