Nintendo announces Picross DS for Europe
Paint by Numbers, nonograms, picture crosswords. Whatever you call them, Picross DS has them, and Nintendo has just announced the game is making its way to Europe on May 11. Branded under the Touch Generations label, the stylish game has been getting great reviews from souls brave enough to import the squiggly-text version. Picross DS features over 300 puzzles with difficulty ranging from easy to OMG IMPOSSIBLE. You can also create and share puzzles, download weekly picross packs, and play competitive multiplayer matches via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Add to that unlockable minigames and you have a certifiable "worthy purchase" on your hands.

I used to play the hell out of Mario Picross on the old Game Boy when I was a youngster. It's good to see it coming back.

One of the downloadable packs is some of the original puzzles from Mario Picross. Highly addicting game if you are a puzzle game fan.

This has barely left my DS since I got it. Not knowing any Japanese, the weekly downloads were a huge, unprecedented surprise feature. Plus it has the classic Super Picross music!(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Definitely a contender for my top DS game of 2007.

I've been playing this game regularly for the past two weeks as well. Insanely addicting -- the online mode is fun too, but the people that play are really good.
Here's hoping a US release is on it's way -- I have a few people already interested in the game, but aren't really interesting in having to live with a JP version. And the EU release isn't gonna be cheap, most likely.
