Nintendo signs on as "flagship" for E for All Expo
Looks like E for All, IDG's open-to-the-public E3-wannabe, has signed up Nintendo to be an "anchor" exhibitor when the expo hits LA this October. The four-day event touts the presence of Nintendo, their "flagship" exhibitor, as a demonstration of the "importance of a broad consumer-focused event for this industry." Though that's where they ran out of nautically-themed adjectives, it's not where the announcements stop: Don James, Nintendo of America Executive Vice President of Operations, will be on E for All's Exhibitor Advisory Board where he'll undoubtedly advise them on all matters exhibitor. With the Big N ready to "power up & play" in LA this October, E for All just took a rather large step from the doldrums of exhibition also-rans to the "hmmm, maybe we'll go to that after all"s.

I thought E was for "Everybody."
As in, "Your mom is rated E for Everybody."

Ocho: SHHHHH! Don't say anything. We want to see how far along their marketing gets before they notice and have to change all their signs.
vadermaggot @ Mar 29th 2007 11:17AM
sounds kind of lame.

Jody, you need to get a looser pants.
JodyAnthony @ Mar 29th 2007 11:35AM
but I'm too poor for looser pants, all my money goes to video games

You know.... Not having a boat load of people to sit back and try new games is a bad thing. Regular people (not game critics and magazine publishers) have better waited opinions. I would rather have average Joe tell me about a game from E3 that they demoed on the floor.
erifneerg @ Mar 29th 2007 12:13PM
well this could do with that new downloadable stuff that nintendo was talking about earlier (xbox arcade style).

I'm sorry but why isn't this a bigger deal? Seriously, everyone got pissed off that E3 became Mini-E3, but there is still a convention. Right here, E for All. Yes, it's sponsored by Gamepro which sucks, but it's a major video game expo in the LA convention center. How do we know there aren't gonna be announcements at this thing? There will probably be more unreleased games then at something like PAX. And the more people who get into it the more serious of an event it can become. Imagine if there were as many people there as there was at E3, but instead of press, consumers as well. Come on guys this is what we've been waiting for. This is our Tokyo Game Show, open to the public. GOD DAMN IT, WHY DOESN'T THIS THREAD HAVE MORE POSTS!

I'll make a post, Judd.
Hold on a minute...

Ok, here we go!-
"I would rather have average Joe tell me about a game from E3 that they demoed on the floor."
I wouldn't. I can hear it now...
"Hey, did you play that Elebits game? I've been hearing it's pretty good in the press."
"Yeah, man! I played it and it SUCKED! There were no guns, tits, blood or swearing! Just a bunch of little kiddy goblins runnin' around that you had to zap with a lazer 'n' shit. Totally blew!"
Yes, the average gaming reviewer might be a moron, but they're at least a step up from the average hardcore gamer, who is the type of person who is going to go to these open to the public expos.
I can make another post, if you like, Judd!
x876543 @ Mar 29th 2007 2:26PM
Why is there no North East coast conventions? I would totally go and I would totally review like an average Joe, (cause I am), I'm no longer a hardcore gamer.
Auron @ Mar 29th 2007 2:34PM
why does the E have to look like the 360's power button?, people would think microsoft is behind this and that it will be biased...
Judd @ Mar 29th 2007 2:52PM
Thanks, samfish! Oh and by the way I do agree with you. I would rather see a video game reviewer than an average Joe review a game. But I still don't see why the event can't be for the press and the fans. As a matter fact, I can't see why in the video game world the press is ALWAYS seperated from the gamers. If you go to a football game are there not fans and sports journalists? Here's an idea take the biggest money making medium in entertainment and have events showcasing it to the public AND the press.
In 2005 I went to the Javits Center(New York City) in October. Less than two months from the launch of the Xbox 360 and all they had was a video of Perfect Dark Zero, and some douchebag showing off taking photographs in PGR3. That event sucked. So yea there is PAX, but it's not the sort of event in which new material is presented. It's also more of an overall geek show(not saying that in a bad way), as it shows Nerdcore rap, and I'm sure has a concentration on webcomics, cosplay, Dungeons+Dragons...
What I'm talking about is a gaming convention that allows the press and gamers to get together and see what the future of gaming holds throough announcements and demos. Like I said, the Tokyo Game Show for America. I really feel like E for all is going to be the only one like that in America.
Of course, it doesn't really matter because like x876543 I'm an East Coast gamer. Apparently, the only people who play video games in the country live in California or Washington State.
bryan2four2 @ Mar 29th 2007 3:27PM
This is going to suck! Bring back the real E³!
Plaid Ninja @ Mar 30th 2007 3:44PM
When they start doing these shows in NYC I'll care, otherwise I'm kinda meh.. it doesn't really affect me in any meaningful way when they're so far off. Sure its nice to get news via blogs and all, but until I can actually attend one of these I won't be jumping for joy.
