Take-Two and Rockstar on the Road To Ruin
You're probably wondering how we got to the point where reporting on an annual meeting of stockholders makes for compelling news, especially if you're one of those weirdos who, you know, actually plays video games. If you haven't been following the long-running drama of how Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar just can't seem to do any good, Wired's got you covered. The story of which makes for a much more interesting read than the aforementioned meeting. In "The Road To Ruin," David Kushner takes you from Rockstar's meager beginnings to their modern day failures, including the actual Grand Theft Auto franchise falling on its face. With Rockstar getting back in the groove of shoving GTA down our throats, all while still dealing with their internal drama, now would be a good time to see what all the fuss has been about beyond "Hot Coffee" and he-who-must-not-be-named.
So you can just sit there and keep playing and enjoying your video games.. or you can do something that matters. Like care about stockholders.

That's a disturbing picture

That girl's going to grow up to be a Power Ranger.

The only reason they made it big is because they produced a new type of game but unfortunately their new genre gets old quickly. They haven't truly innovated or produced something new since then.

Aha! I got that south park reference (the World of Watrcraft episode).
I hope they don't fall apart... I used to hate everything rockstar, until I started enjoying Bully and other such games.

the caption on that photo is hi-larious.
by the way... I don't think lame psp ports really counts as "falling on your face". People bought LCS on name recognition... when they realized GTA doesn't translate to a handheld they avoided VCS in droves. It was stupid of RS to release those PSP games which just seemed like a chash grab.
Now if IV flops, then they will have fallen on their face.... those PSP games were more of a stumble.
Hot Coffee was a mistake... only in how they handled it.

What % of Joystiq readers will make it through that? LOL.
I did.

That was a great article on wired.
Wonder what would have happened if Hot Coffee was never released. I used to work on one of the official fansites (Codename GTA) in the webring and we were told by R* PR to remove all traces of Hot Coffee Mod and to never speak of it again.
Seemed a bit bias towards the start. Never the less.

Some things. I like the article but somethings are erroneous.
One is the thing that Bully and the Warriors are failure is a little sketchy.
Two the problems of Take Two are that, of Take Two.
Three the thing that GTA VCS did sell well is not a Rockstar problem is a Sony problem. If it wasn't easy to pirate the thing it would be as successful as the LCS game.
And Last, if you wanted nice people it would be call "Gentleman Games".
