Activist lawyer drops RICO charges against Take Two, others
Phew, that was close. And to think, he almost discovered our master plans ...Infamous Miami lawyer Jack Thompson has thoroughly revised his complaint and counterclaim against Take Two. Concerning his counterclaim, Thompson shortened it from nearly 20 pages to a single paragraph that makes no mention of previous racketeering charges that listed Penny Arcade, the ESA, Joystiq, Kotaku and others as collaborators and conspirators.
Of course, Joystiq was left unaware what racketeering really was, having ignored Denis McCauley's thorough explanation for enlightenment via Tycho and Gabe's funny pictures.
In light of this pseudo-victory, Joystiq is celebrating with cake, ice cream and engaging in illegal business activities usually associated with organized crime.

Congrats...I'll down a few alcoholic beverages in your honor tonight.

Is there really cake and ice cream? I want some.
Robert @ Mar 30th 2007 4:08PM
Hmmm... celebrating this victory is kind of like celebrating reality. Thompson's original complaint never had a chance. Neither will anything else he puts forth.

'Thompson's original complaint never had a chance. Neither will anything else he puts forth."

So nothing happens to him? He puts forward completely ridiculous legal claims and then gets to remove them and move on like his original suit wasn't bat-poop insane?
How much longer will this guy be allowed to abuse the legal system without repurcussion?

Do you think he was reading the comments on Joystiq the night after he published that article to see if we were really conspiring against him, and realised that his actions were the reason for the dislike for him, and he wants some love now?
csc @ Mar 30th 2007 4:42PM
@5, that gives me a wonderful Idea.
Damn, he dropped the racketeering thing, he must be onto the real truth now. I suggest we switch communication from obscure joystiq comment threads and find soemwhere more secure, youtude or myspace will have to do.
This Jack Thomspon could blow our whole enterprise wide open, with his hot shot lawyer skills. We only have one chance at turning america's youth into weapons for global domination, and it must not fail!
Yours Sincerely,
Doug Lowenstien.

Robert, I celebrate reality every day.
Brian Sexton @ Mar 30th 2007 4:53PM
Please do not refer to Jack Thompson as an "activist"; the association of the term with an attorney who perpetrates frivolous lawsuits lends a negative connotation to the term that it does not deserve.
PizmoOrmolu @ Mar 30th 2007 6:13PM
...to continue on the same riff as Mr. Sexton, please do not associate Jack Thompson with the possessive adjective “his” as it lends a bad connotation to the concept human, of which Mr. Thompson is a very poor example.
Ryuukuro @ Mar 30th 2007 7:29PM
@ PizmoOrmolu (not even gonna ask about the handle...)
You get the ROTFLOL award of the day. That was the best follow up comment EVER. Rarely if ever do I actually laugh at a comment on Joystiq. That was classic.
C. Grant @ Mar 30th 2007 7:58PM
Nice PizmoOrmolu.

I like how you left that guy's name out of the headline.
