How do you expect the psp to get a brighter screen? my pupils are nearly burned out by the screen now. Also, while touch screen could be cool, tilt support can't really work that well on a portable system. Say you are in a car and it makes a sharp turn. That would set off the sensors in the system, messing up your game. Does any1 else remember Wario Ware Twisted?

These suggestions are ridiculous. Seems like they want a Nintendo DS with a damn harddrive sticking out. I'm fine with the way the PSP is now.

"Give the PSP the power to turn your PS3 on and off."

Are you serious? How lazy can people get? Go up to your PS3 and turn it on and off yourself.

Touch screen, tilt control? No. Just because the DS has a touch screen means the PSP has to have one now? To be honest I never really liked the touch screen the DS has, I always thought it was too much of a gimmick. Really all I want to do is just sit down and be able to play a video game, gimmicks aside.

Yeah, sounds like some great ideas... until you realize that this PSP would be more expensive than a PS3!!! People already b**** about the price of the PSP now!

Also, until I hear of an alternative that actually works for UMDs (saving to a hd is a terrible idea for the many portable gamers who like to buy more than like 4 titles for their system) I'm not buying that suggestion.

hard drives suck in portable systems they're big, slow and eat up batter y life much faster than memory sticks. And besides, sony has already announced a memory stick that can go up to 32 gigs

In short they want a hand-held that will be the size of a dinner plate, shit gold, and control their orgasms. Every body makes fun of "Crazy" Ken yet these like-minded individuals are no better.

* No more UMDs: "faster load times, the increased battery life and the dramatically reduced risk of PSP shuriken injury."

1. How will you play your old games? Sony has always made it so the new console is backwards compatible, I believe they will want this in their next handheld.

* Hard drive, please: "it is high time we thought beyond the limitations of what the Memory Stick format has to offer."

2. Pro Duo MS are going to be 32GB, who needs more than that. Not to mention the MS sticks that will replace the pro duo will go beyond 32GB. Plus a hard drive will increase the price, weigh the damn thing down, and increase the width of the device(not to mention Hard drives are the most failure prone part of any electronic device).

* Better Wi-Fi: "let's up the ante with faster wireless connectivity. Because 802.11b was like totally 2005."

3. The Wifi is perfectly fine. now if the Internet browser was able to cache on the MS, then that would eliminate half of my problems with it's Internet function.

* Increased battery life: "Currently, you can expect between 4-8 hours of juice from your PSP's battery ... Surely we can do better than this by now."

4. Seriously, used the sleep function if you are out long. But with that being said They should increase the battery life so the old games can spin faster.

* Brighter screen

5. Okay, someone is on some serious meds. I wonder what is like to imagine a problem that doesn't exist.

* No more console ports: "A lot of the blame lies in Sony's non-committal to first-party development on the PSP" (Ironically, their most wanted game is still a port: Gran Turismo 4)

6. This a media problem. Take up with bias news/review entities that over exaggerated the number of ports like 1up, GI, and EGM. Every game console, handheld, and computer has ports, but only the PSP is depicted as nothing but ports. A bigger problem, that Sony can correct, is quite allowing PSP exclusives to go to the PS2 or the PS3.

* Bluetooth: "the PS3 has Bluetooth, so I'm seeing a clear opportunity for the PSP to double up as full blown wireless controller."

7. I can't think of any thing wrong with this for I don't anything about Bluetooth technology.

* Even better Remote Play: "Give the PSP the power to turn your PS3 on and off. Let me browse content while my flat mates are getting repeatedly pwned at Resistance. And if it eats up their bandwidth, who cares?"

8. The first sentence makes sense; however the second does not. Which makes the third not makes sense either, for it builds off of the second.

* Touch screen? Tilt control? "Why not have some touch screen functionality? But if that's still too limiting, why not have full set of six-axis motion detection to boot?"

9. I can't think of anything useful for a touch screen, so why brother. Besides that functionality will most likely be nonessential for games, like the touch screen for the DS. Titlt sensors will add more bulk to the device, and it won't be useful on any handheld due to the screen being attach to the device.

* PSP-PS3 networked gaming: "PlayStation Home looks like it might be the ideal testing ground for just such an idea; the PS3 can act as the main programming platform for your own virtual home, while the PSP could simply let you hang out in your pad and check out others while you're away form the main console."

10. It won't useful until you get a better keyboard.

My List:
One thing the system needs most of all, is a foldable keyboard no bigger than PSP itself.

I agreed with a few of these points, but then I was stopped by FUCKING idiotic bullshit:

What the hell is SHURIKEN injury? Surely they're not referring to the totally FAKED 'dangeours ejecting UMD' MYTH... Because if they were, I'd have to kick these morons in the face.

Better WiFi? BRIGHTER screen? My ass. STFU, geeks making work for yourselves by writing nothing-articles. Trying to get a job blogging for Joystiq or Engadget? (our PSPFanboy bloggers exempt, of course)

While some of these I agree with, there are some that are completely stupid. "...dramatically reduced risk of PSP shuriken injury", what the hell?!?! Umm, I don't see tilt controls for a handheld being ergonomically correct. Also, the screen brightness is fine now...I'm sure it's damaged our eyes enough as it is.

I'm with the console, as it is; we have yet to see more from this nifty little monster. Besides, most know my stance on ditching UMDs; utter BS. Additional memory should be reserved for downloading cheap PS1 games and other media. Until and unless PSP games are retailed online for a smilar price as the PS1 games, I wouldn't want to carry the economic burden of of storage space. It's an utterly childish suggestion.

Oh, and the bit about ports? So what?! What is the major crime with ports? You have some ports, and you have some originals. Solid ports aren't always a bad thing. Some of us didn't get to explore the PS2 catalogue to its fullest, so I wouldn't mind playing some of these games on the PSP. Hell, PS2 ports would be fine; a btter alternative to PS1 ports.

The rest is just, I don't know, overly wishful thinking.

The PSP is fine.

Really, a second analogue stick should be at the top of the list. But that's more for the PSP2, since you can't have games designed to use it with people having psps that only have one. But damn, that'd be sweet.

C'mon folks. I actually like my PSP the way it is (and seem to be in some kind of weird minority). I even like the black color! Who is the moron who wrote this? A DS fanboy undercover?

I see no need for a hard drive, as much as I hate proprietery hardware, this one (memory sticks) works. Sure, they could have gone with something already available like SD cards or something but it isn't the end of the world like it seems people keep trying to convince us (or maybe it's just themselves?).

And a touch screen?!? That is one of the main reasons I DIDN'T get a DS. I hate the whole idea of a touch screen on a gaming device.

Bluetooth? For what? Except maybe attaching one of those foldable keyboards if Sony ever decided a decent way to use the browser for a faster way of entering websites or using the wifi for IM. Other than that, bluetooth would be unecessary. I'm sure not springing for bluetooth stereo headphones.

Fewer console ports? Just give me some more good games (not to be taken as if I think there aren't any, because there are some really good games already, and I have most of them), I actually like the idea of being able to play more PS1 or PS2 games on the go.

What's the big deal with exclusives? Just so you can have bragging rights? All I want is good games, I don't care where they come from, if they have been around before, or if everyone else on another platform can play them, just as long as they are good. Grow up and just play!

The only two things I would say to Sony that would make my PSP better is improve the Wifi/Internet experience and LOWER THE PRICE! Oh, and improve the music player (i.e. make it louder).

Jeez. I feel like I am hopelessly out of touch after reading this post. I actually like just about everything about my PSP, THAT'S WHY I PAID MY HARD EARNED MONEY FOR IT!

I hope somebody at Sony is reading these posts rather than those idiots at Tech Digest.

Anyways, I too would love to have a second analog stick, but nothing else really stood out for me except for the improved wifi... common, at least corporate G into there.

What i really want is for them to move the damn power switch. I constantly turn the thing off when playing DragonBall Z games...really really annoying!!!

I wouldn't mind faster WiFi either, i like surfing the net, but its painfully slow.

To quote each wish.
1. If there are no more UMDs, do you really want to have so many pro duo cards around? Do you want to wait to transfer a game to the card each time you want to play it?
2. Having a hard drive would have more problems. I don't desire it.
4. and 5. Increased battery life and brighter screen? Just how long you expect the battery to last with a brighter screen?
9. With a touch screen, the display wont look as good as he looks now.
And the others I don't care. I'll say don't expect another psp until another four or five years. Its way to early for a psp2 or whatever. I do see sony creating a new version of the psp like they did with the psx. But nothing that will make you want to go out and get it if you already own a psp.
This topic comes out every few weeks here. I hope its the last lol.

A new PSP Yahoo!
Ok I want
1 terabyte HDD
100 Gig Memstick
TouchScreen Just like DS!
Battery that runs off of water and garbage and last 50 hour between charges!
have 2 umds so wont have to switch out moves and games so often!

Ok ok I guess none of that will happen :) but I would like

- Dual Analog Controls (no flat nub but a raised button type as in a noral controller. Forget the touchscreen but a port for a mini mouse and keyboard would be great
A Port that allows you to use a PS2 Controller so you can play with the PSP's controls or the external controller.

- Maybe make 333 the minimum clock speed

- Make a screen protector enclosure built into the PSP

-Better browser with all features of internet and have a IM that is like trillian

Make it more price competitive with the DS. Face it, they might not market the same people but if the price was closer to the DS then DS Fanboys would jump ship like rats off the Titanic ;)
