Toys 'R' Us will have Wii in stock Sunday
If you're looking for the Wii, and we know a lot of you out there still are, you'll be happy to know this Sunday Toys "R" Us will have them in stock. Get there early, the announcement will be in this Sunday's flyers and you'll want to beat the rush of moms to the store after they drop their coffee, shove the bagel in their mouth and bolt out the door.Wherever people fall on the Wii shortage being intentional or unintentional, not to mention the controversy among Wii owners about the gaming drought, that little console

So will Wal-Mart. Well, at least they're supposed to. I'm an associate in the Electronics dept, and we have twelve that we're holding for Sunday.
Wal-Mart's April sales paper advertises Wiis in stock for Sunday, w/ a minimum of 7 per store. So unless stores sold them early, you should be able to find them at Wal-Mart.
Paul Gale @ Mar 30th 2007 9:18PM
In addition to Toys R Us getting a shipment of Wii units this Sundays, many Wal Marts are as well. Hopefully any Joystiq readers without a Wii that would like one, will get lucky this Wrestlemania weekend.
Dirk Dorkelson @ Mar 30th 2007 9:14PM
Interesting... bunch of Wiis available April 1, just like the GameStop exec said. We'll see, though. This alone doesn't prove him right. If they sustain it, though, it's time to get suspicious.
dukemeiser @ Mar 30th 2007 9:15PM
Super Paper Mario comes out April 9th. For me, that will be the biggest release since LoZ: TP. Although I'm still knee deep in The Godfather. Beatin' shop owners for extortion money is hard work!
Atelectasis @ Mar 30th 2007 9:19PM
Fuck Toys R' Us. If I were anyone with a brain, I wouldn't shop there. I placed a online pre-order with them for a Wii bundle before the machine came out. The system came out, and Toys R' Us hadn't shipped mine yet. So I got one in store, and cancelled my Toys R' Us order. A month and a half later, they SHIP me a Wii, even though I cancelled, and charge my credit card nearly $500 for the bundle. I declined the shipment and it was returned to Toys R' Us' warehouses (which I have a tracking number confirming). I patiently waited for my refund for something I CANCELLED a month and a half before, and didn't get it. 3 and a half months later, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND. I've been hassling them, and as of late, I got a email from "head office" claiming they HAD NO RECORD OF A CHARGE TO MY CREDIT CARD OR SHIPPED ITEM. So I had to send them my credit card statement to "prove" to them I was charged. I have STILL not received my refund.
I would never buy with Toys R' Us again. They not only not keep track of their record and what they BILL their customers, but it seems they can't even trust their customers or figure out what the hell they are doing. I'm considering going to the RCMP economic crimes department now, and bringing this to the media.
FUCK Toys R' Us!!!
vidGuy @ Mar 30th 2007 9:25PM
That sucks, Atelectasis. I personally loved Toys R Us for Wii shopping. I got a Wii there on launch day, Zelda: TP, extra remotes and nunchuks, no problem. Plus, a week or so later I bought 5 Wii Points cards there when no other store had them.
Atelectasis @ Mar 30th 2007 9:33PM
Yeah most people I know have had good experiences with Toys R' Us, mostly them having things in that would normally be out of stock. That was the reason I went through them for my pre-order, but ironically, I ended up getting shafted to the max as they didn't even send my pre-order out in time, but charged me for something I don't even posses, and can't even find a RECORD of it. I complained to the BBB, of which Toys R' Us is not even a member of. I feel so helpless now. I'm a college student and 3 months of having that much money on your credit card, along with the interests burns just as bad as gonorrhea.
OTAM @ Mar 30th 2007 9:34PM
Sure they will ;)
wukong @ Mar 30th 2007 9:57PM
If only Sunday weren't April's Fools Day then I'd have more confidence then hesitation. However, I will at the very least attempt to get one.
Jeremy @ Mar 30th 2007 10:00PM
Even though it is April 1st this coming Sunday, this is real, I posted the Ad on my site earlier in the week... even xboxfanboy picked it up and ran it and linked to us because of a 360 deal that TRU will also be having.
If you want to ad a source Alexander, here you go:

It’s nothing to be suspicious about really. The GameStop guy most likely has information about estimated shipments for the month, which are apparently higher than last month’s. He’s just making wild speculation about why the shipments are higher though. The natural assumption would be that Nintendo increased production, but he decided to jump to a different conclusion about them holding back supply. We’ll never get proof one way or the other, but since the sales data says Nintendo is actually selling lots and lots of Wiis, I’m still inclined to think it’s a supply/demand/production capacity issue rather than some bizarre and very risky stunt by Nintendo.
Jose @ Mar 30th 2007 10:58PM
The Toys "R" Us in Times Square gets Nintendo Wii's every Sunday. Last week they received over 500. The week before that they got 1000. Before that they got 500. So if you live in NYC and don't have a Wii Times Square is where you should go. But be careful cause they might try to force a bundle on you.
Xavier Smith @ Mar 30th 2007 11:05PM
Nice Playstation logo behind the Toys R US.
Spartacus @ Mar 30th 2007 11:07PM
My buddy just bought 9 Wii's from Walmart the other day. Sold 7 of them, gave one to his sister, kept the other and still made $200.
He was embarassed to tell me this news as I've played Halo and Halo 2 with him every Thursday night for 3 years. His wife told him he could get a Wii, but wouldn't let him spend that much money on a 360. Why can't women just TRY to understand that men have testosterone and the Wii, while fun at times, is oozing with estrogen?
AndrewNeo @ Mar 30th 2007 11:29PM
Could someone please tell me if 24-hour Wal-Marts will start selling at midnight? I know they did for launch but I don't know how Sunday-ad type works.
jollydwarf @ Mar 30th 2007 11:38PM
I eagerly look forward to another batch of posts all over the gaming boards from overconfident, procrastinating users who once again will seriously underestimate the amount of time required to camp/linesit for this shipment. After all, it's gonna be pretty effin' nice for this time of year in areas like my neck o' the woods.
"Damn, man...I got their [sic] an hour before the store opened, but I was #22 and the a-hole manager said they only had vouchers for 21!" (Insert angry and/or sad emoticon, cut to me sadistically smiling. I never get tired of it.)
ANt @ Mar 30th 2007 11:49PM
Sunday is April 1st.....NUFF SAID!!
vidGuy @ Mar 31st 2007 12:46AM
@Spartacus, you DO know that women produce testosterone, too, right? BTW, I played Halo 2, Paper Mario, Tiger Woods 07 Wii, Crackdown, and Guitar Hero 2 this week. I'm a guy, but I don't let my hormones dictate my gameplay.
@AndrewNeo, I THINK Walmart's prices are good at midnight, but I'd call the store to see if you can get someone to confirm that. Good luck getting someone on the phone that knows what the hell they are talking about. ;)
@jollydwarf, no kidding! I camped for 6 hours at launch and counted myself lucky. My roommate had to camp for three hours in JANURARY to get one because he skipped out on going with me at launch.
imacoorobot @ Mar 31st 2007 1:12AM
I hope they pop out and say "April Fools!", especially if it rains.
Sly @ Mar 31st 2007 1:17AM
A Wii on April's Fools Day. That says it all.
Spartacus @ Mar 31st 2007 3:27PM
@Vidguy
Yup. Guys produce estrogen too. In fact, some males can lactate as well, but let's not stray too far from the point...
If you missed it, the point was that my buddy was (and is) a die hard Xbox fan who did not and would not own another console. Now his wife cons him into a Wii (which is about as "kiddie" to him as a GameCube). I find that somewhat humorous. I'm sorry if you do not. I'm glad your significant other is more sensitive to your needs.
MSaccarello @ Mar 31st 2007 11:05AM
if anyone out there is in the nyc area or just desperate to get a wii, the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square get's the biggest lot out of all stores... like thousands upon thousands.
Track @ Mar 31st 2007 11:09AM
As for this news, I hope that some nunchuks will be available.
Other Point
The constant ripping on the Wii is an interesting angle.
No "real, original" games?
I'm pretty sure that Papaer Mario comes out in a week and a half
It seems that WarioWare was original and real
Oh, and Excite Truck was a blast
There are planty of real games with many more to follow
I think Nintendo has done a great job in getting games out that support the system, especially for the first four months after launch.
Christ, go beat up the PS3 for a while. Now that's a drought after launch
Mr Khan @ Mar 31st 2007 2:46PM
@ Acteletasis:
After you still recieved the bundle, i just would've sold it, since Toys R Us still hasn't refunded you, you would've sold it at a premium, probably making up for the money you lost
On topic:
Riiiiiiight, a highly sought after product is suddenly appearing in stores on April 1st
kidding, kidding
ZeroCorpse @ Mar 31st 2007 2:54PM
There will plenty of Wii consoles in stores in about three weeks, after the fiscal quarter ends for Nintendo.
Right now, they've hit their target numbers, and they're holding product for guaranteed boosts in sales at the beginning of their next fiscal quarter.
By June, the stores won't be able to get rid of them.
Aex @ Mar 31st 2007 5:06PM
I should pick up and couple and try to turn them on ebay or something.
itguy07 @ Mar 31st 2007 8:16PM
@Acteletasis
Lesson - After you returned it and they refused to credit it, your first call is to your credit card co. Dispute the charge. Most times they will immediately credit you and fight it out with the vendor.
That always gets them to respond as too many chargebacks and they can loose their card acceptance or be forced to pay higher fees.
I'd call your card co. anyway to see what they can do.
Avidburnt @ Apr 1st 2007 4:31AM
It's not an April fools joke my local Walmart had 8 (Spring, TX) and they said many other stores will have similar numbers. I got there at 11:43pm and picked mine up from the counter at 12:05am. That is the truth.
gorebago @ Apr 1st 2007 1:32PM
they [walmart] did have them although the one i went to had nine and are already sold out (by 12:05am) so unless they won't sell them til tomorrow you guys are sol.
nicafoz @ Apr 12th 2007 4:20PM
Yah right, Toys R Us is closed tomorrow, EASTER SUNDAY. right fabio.
aalberto @ Jun 18th 2007 3:15AM
when will the wii be in stores again
bonnie4jack @ Nov 21st 2007 4:53AM
I gave up on running around stores after 2 weeks.
I subscribed to cell/email alerts from http://wiialerts.com
This was what made ALL the difference. I didn't have to move from my house, and I was able to get 2 wiis from Amazon, one for my kids and one for my sisters'. This site was incredibly useful, can't say enough good things about it.
