Weekly Webcomic Wrapup: little big edition
There's somewhat of a correlation between using the descriptive little and the premise of big, enormous landscapes of creativity. Of course, LittleBigPlanet is one prime example. Recall even Little Nemo, an old children's book which spawned a decent licensed video game, The Dream Master. (We wouldn't mind seeing that on the Virtual Console, Capcom.) And we find Mario Galaxy so strangely familiar because the concept of jumping between a vast array of mini-planets is a concept we remember from Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince). This has nothing to do with webcomics; here are our picks for the best gaming comics. Be sure to vote for your favorite, and let us know of any gems we missed this week!

For me, Fanboys wins it with the hammer toss.
Rubang B @ Mar 31st 2007 2:18PM
I'm torn between N-Europe, RPG-TV, and Fanboys this time. I must meditate on this before I vote.
brian @ Mar 31st 2007 2:31PM
2P Start for me.
Zo? @ Mar 31st 2007 2:36PM
Fanboys all the way.
synce @ Mar 31st 2007 2:54PM
It's a popularity contest. Either that or most Joystiq readers have horrible taste.
Mainman @ Mar 31st 2007 2:54PM
It was down to Fanboys and N-Europe this week, but Fanboys gets a vote from me to maintain its early lead. The last panel wins it all.
mccomber @ Mar 31st 2007 2:55PM
pressstarttoplay is funny because it's so ironic. Must have been before the sales numbers started coming in. I'd take record breaking sales thanks to plenty of stock anyday.
My vote goes to duelinganaolgs though, because that's been the playstation boards since that announcement, and the boycott threats are finally starting to get funny rather than just annoying.
Mr Khan @ Mar 31st 2007 2:58PM
I'd say they were all equally good, so N-Europe won because of the Navi/Shahra reference
Tacoman @ Mar 31st 2007 3:52PM
Deep Blue Sea, they ate me! A fuckin' shark ATE ME!
SergeXIII @ Mar 31st 2007 5:06PM
I wasn't too crazy about the first comic, but the rest seem to be a good selection.
Even though it captured what we all already thought of, FanBoys presented its joke well enough to get my vote.
And now for some self promotion:

Call me crazy on that first one but....don't people normally put juice IN the fridge? That was clearly made by a child.
Martez @ Mar 31st 2007 5:36PM
Pretty good week. PA made me laugh, but disappoints me how many 'automatic' votes it seems to get. Do people really like it THAT much?
Kye @ Mar 31st 2007 5:39PM
I always vote for the one that makes me laugh most.
Joystiq, you forgot vgcats and godmode again.
GhaleonQ @ Mar 31st 2007 6:32PM
I had completely forgotten about the Little Nemo movie, but a game?! Ouch.
Also, synce is right in post 5. I am baffled weekly by viewers' taste.
csc @ Mar 31st 2007 6:35PM
Heh, fanboys gets the vote because me and half of everyone hears sonic vs mario in the olympics and thought, "fat plumber versus speedy hedghog?" Thanks for bringing in some context fanboys....
I WOULD have voted for ctrlaltdelete if theyd put the C&C3 strip in since that was genius.
and mccomber, remember its a great success for sony but that doesnt mean presstartoplay isnt accurate.
i mean what was it, £10,000,000 of cancellations?, I'd say the units would stack up on shelves like that, (I know I saw them do it) Sony made good, but they saturated the market, whereas the competition is in short supply and high demand. hard to compare untill wii's start pilling up 10 mil in unwanted hardware.
Steve 3.2 @ Mar 31st 2007 7:52PM
Definitely a tough choice this week, but F@NBOY$ got my vote in the end. Their previous comic was also decent. It's nice to see that they're back to better things after the not-so-good 'Paul Gets a Job' arc.
Now if DA's comic from 3.26 was up, that would have gotten my vote instead:

Guess the Microsoft joke went unappreciated. Maybe next time.

unfortunately comic 1 is down with a 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
mccomber @ Mar 31st 2007 9:53PM
@ csc, I completely agree that it is, at least at face value, accurate. It's just funny how the picture it paints of doom and gloom wasn't exactly true once we started seeing actual sales. I'd say Sony's plan of providing enough product, while bold, was sound in the end. Even the french seemed to change their minds after the initial launch no-show; then again, they also hated the Eiffel Tower when it was first built, so maybe they're just fickle.
I think if one were to add a final panel of some guy getting his PS3 from the delivery van it would have been spot-on. A lot of people seemed to choose that route.

WFGN # 11 is up at:
http://madiart.blogspot.com/
it is deticated to anyone who bought a 32x
Freelance @ Apr 1st 2007 9:12AM
I thought the "Devil May Cry, but Fanboys Cry Louder," title was more clever and funnier than the comic itself.
Zachary Lewis @ Apr 1st 2007 3:19PM
My bandwidth reset, so Comic 1 is back up.
Thanks for the views, guys.
